Omar: South Florida has some of the worst sports fans in the nation

Any ever ask him a question on twitter? The guy gives a bum-like response every time. Also this is coming from a beat writer that is paid to write about the team, yet he continues to bash them. He bashes Henne all the time on there, n now attacks the fan base that gets him paid? Fire this fool, it would be the 2nd best move since removing Henning.

Not only that, but Omar's assessments/predictions are ALWAYS wrong.

If you don't know how you should feel on all issues regarding the Fins, have your compass go opposite of whatever Omar K. is saying.

I'm tired of that "it's miami there's too much to do here we dont have time to go to sports games". bunch of BS because there's alot to do in NY, Boston, Philadelphia, and LA too but they some of the best fanbases for their teams.

We should all tweet him this thread, dedicated to how he sucks!

LOL Omar's not buying tickets!!

Tweet him how many has he bought in the last 10 years ... bet its ZERO!!

Right now, the BIGGEST Ticket Salesman is Henne ... whatcha got QB, a GOOD DEAL???? Henne can fill the stands!!

Or they have some of the smartest fans in the country. They don't mindlessly plunk down their money when the teams lose.

where else would you rather be than right here...right now.

yeah, riiiiight. I understand the winning thing. But this reminds me of bandwagon bills fans. They existed everywhere when bills went to 4 superbowls and years after. But now, they dont even think about going to just one game. The true fans show up. Bottom line.

And that's exactly what MOST fans of ANY team are: fair-weather. The problem is, people are assuming every fan is a diehard finheavener. That is simply not the case. I know our member count is high, but most are just average, everyday football fans. They go to a game when the can and if it's worth their time and money. THAT is the market the team needs to target. That's where the sellouts come from.

In Miami (vs. Cleveland, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, etc.) the team is competing with a LOT of other things to do on a Sunday. You better give them a goddamn good reason for getting out there and spending a ton of money. Mediocrity isn't going to cut it, and that's exactly what this team has been. Even when they were "competing" in the Wanny years, it was a boring mediocre product that never actually had a chance to win anything (because they never got a ****ing QB...). Sure, the economy has some effect, but it's mostly competition.

So yes, Miami sports fans are "fickle" and "fair-weather." ****ing get over it. That's the market. That's the way it is. They need to cater to it, not the reverse (threatening blackouts won't work). As a successful businessman, I'm shocked Ross doesn't get this. It's pretty basic.

Of course, this is discussed every single year and every single time a game isn't sold out, yet some don't seem to grasp it and want to whine about how "bad" the local fans are. Get over it.

It's beyond annoying. It's a business, and consumers have a right to spend their entertainment dollars where they see fit. This notion that "you're a bad fan" because you don't go to games is ridiculous.

Until the Dolphins get their act together, they'll continue to have problems selling games out. It's that simple.

Yes, please....pretty please. Get over it.

also, you know half of america is on food stamps. you can just eat your free food before you go. find 40 for a ticket and rough it, but still at least see some nice cheerleaders hoppin around. cmon man!

It's because blacks can't afford to go to the game and whites have moved out of Miami. Blacks in Miami, are poor, disinterested and are more into the Heat. The Latinos that are in Miami, really don't like football. They are more into soccer and basketball. I lived in Miami from 1979 to 1988, there were more white people there. White people are crazy about football, but there are not that many white people in Miami, anymore since I used to live there.

Oh no not another its the fans fault thread
i got news for the "blame the fans bandwagon"
"fans have little impact on players and outcomes"
Players and owners don't give a damn about fans except whats inside their wallets.

You could have been a season ticket holder since 1970 of the dolphins lose your house..
You think any of the dolphins, owners or other hard core dolphin fans
will give you a place to stay for a couple weeks?
They will laugh at you call the police and you will be thrown in jail for trespassing
on their 15 mill estate on star island..

By the way this is unsustainable
it would not surprise me that 10 years from now
football stadiums across the country will be lucky to fill up to half the capacity
Our major sports teams could move out of the country to china with the rest of the jobs..

I mentioned that last week as well.

The out of towners on the board want us to continue to waste money on a bad product so THEY can feel good...

Why should we continue to waste our hard earned money?

You must enjoy posting these stories so much. If you wanted to go the game so bad, move down here and do it. Stop bashing the rest of us.

I will watch at home for FREE now.

hard earned money? what money? if you had money, you would go because you can go to the friggin beach anytime! It is absolutely denial. If Henne has a big year, the denial will continue.

all you stay at homers are so full of crap. the stadium was part-empty even when marino was here.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. This franchise has done the same thing over and over for years. Fans are loyal but mostly not insane.
You add to that the fiasco that was the end of last season, the broken promises, appearances of a disfunctional FO, and, bam .... Omar is the one in denial and the one not coming to terms with reality.

Omar's BS reminds me of some Pink Floyd lyrics from Brain Damage; Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.

your clueless. you dont even see change when its staring you straight in the face. just a bitcher
