This organization needs to make a decision quickly on what Cam Wake's future is. With how much of a laughing stock the team has become, the last thing we want is yet another circus in the form of a holdout from our best defensive player.
If he's demanding something reasonable, pay the guy, plain and simple. If he's demanding something outrageous, get a high draft pick for him this year, improve the team via the draft, and move the **** on. We can't have a big pain in the ass in the form of a holdout, and we certainly can't let this guy walk at the end of next year without getting anything for him. That would be a big fat waste, particularly since our expectations for next year aren't exactly through the roof.
Do the right thing for once, for God's sake.

First of all how do you know we aren't trying to re-sign him? Secondly, someone has to be willing to give up a high draft pick, you cant just take one. You are purely speculating.

Wake and Philbin talked and he is back at practice, so take a chill pill and see what happens.

Cam is going nowhere. But you can't expect Jeff to sit with Cam's agent just 2 days before the draft. Cam will get his extension in training camp.

I doubt Cam is looking for anything "reasonable". He's aware of what he should be paid based on his performance. It's going to cost us pretty to sign him, which I believe we should do. Not sure how stoked i'd be with our main pass rusher being a rookie if we decided to trade him or something.

Remember he can't hold out for long and he's still got a year. Eventually (under the new CBA) he starts getting fined for missing mandatory ****. Still need to get him locked up asap though..

I would wait till the season plays out and then negotiate based on this season. Worst case scenerio we can franchise him. If I were Cam Wake though, I'd bevery anxious to get a contract done before Jake Long does, because whoever doesnt sign this year will be franchised.

I'm glad you reminded them about this. :rolleyes2:

I'm sure they completely forgot that he wants his new contract and is staying away from the volountary workouts and practices.

I agree completley they NEVER do the right thing, they just got INCREDIBLY & fantastically lucky when they signed him from the CFL.

The Dolphins hold all the cards here, I'm afraid. He's under contract and at his age, if he wants to get paid, holding out won't do it. They almost certainly lose in any trade they'd make, so that won't happen. He'll get signed, don't worry about it. We're in April after all.

Why does the decision have to be "right away"? Players hold out all the time, what makes this so different? Does every team that has a player holding out have to make the same decision? What players should we cut so we can sign him right away, I am sure you thought of that as well.

They'll have the cash to do it next year. Need to at least bring back Wake and Long.

If we don't make a decision quickly we're going to end up losing him and getting nothing in return, or suffering thru a lengthy hold out that hurts the chemistry of a team with a brand new coaching staff. Great stuff, right?

If we were a team contending for a championship, it'd be a different story. We could try and get the most out of him this season, and at the end of the day it wouldn't kill us if we gave it a good run this year then lost him for nothing. We are a team with very little going for it right now, and we can't afford to let valuable trading chips simply walk.

Point blank, we can give up late game winning touchdowns to the pitiful likes of Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy with our without Cam Wake. What we NEED to do is build for the future and put a good product on the field thru the draft. We won't do that unless we accumulate more picks.

What do you do if a "we're a player away from winning it all" team offers you, let's say, a first and third for Cam. Do you pull the trigger and "officially" re-build?
