The extension and the timing of it was one of the best moves of the Tannenbaum era.
It was the proper way to see the rising QB market and lock up your guy at a discount while also giving yourself decent outs during the continued evaluation of Ryan.
The restructure this year is more of a head scratcher though. You still had him for 3 years. I get you wanted more cap space but this type of move screams of “bad, desperate Tannenbaum”.
Hopefully Ryan just plays well and makes it a moot point but like I have said before, if it all falls apart, they all need their walking papers.
