Only fair to give AJ the start

well we'll all agree to disagree, i think a player needs playing time to develop, especially a QB... he can hold a clipboard till hes 35, i still think that 35 year old will need in game experience to grow into a starting QB... who cares about age, what does that have to do with it? did that help chris weinke? haha, no...

so if you wanna give a guy less than a season to become a great player after holding the clipboard for a few years, thats on you... i think to fully develop a QB needs playing time, period... i saw him improve last year as the season went on, even with the disgusting offensive situation of last year, and i think maybe he can improve this year, why not give it a shot? its not like gus is blowing him out of the water, they're about even now, so start the inexperienced guy, maybe he'll turn around... but thats me, and im just a fan, what i think really doesn't matter...

AJ took the majority of the snaps in that Pitt game.... he played from the 2nd qtr all the way into the 4th qtr... AJ had a major chance last week.. just because he wasnt the "starter" doesn mean he didnt get a long look.... Stop looking at the depth chart as a barometer of how someone is getting evaluated.

Give me a break! It seems that some Finheaveners seem to think that they have a better handle on talent scouting and depth charts than do the people hired to do that job. I do believe, and I just may be wrong on this one, that the coaches have seen a little more of all of the players on the team than anyone that will ever, and I mean EVER post on here. I say shut the pie hole, quit your pipe dream, and let the coach make the decision.

And many people who want to say this to others are naive to the fact that like any other high profile job things are "political". And in this occupation there is also the salary cap to deal with. If Saban honestly thinks AJ sucks, do you really believe he would be saying it or even cutting him?? It would affect salary cap and also make a circus of the team. Same thing will happen if Sage goes up to #2 or even hit #1. The media would do nothing but hound Saban constantly.

i agree gus we know is a career backup, because we've seen him play and seen what he can do, and as of now AJ looks like one also, but so did brees in SD, so did dehlomme in NO, etc... only way they got better was by gaining experience, or being given a fair chance like dehlomme did in car...

what im saying is that yes as of now they both jus tlook like backups and most likely will never be viable starting QBs, but with AJs inexperience, he can still grow, and maybe he cna grow into something good... most likely not, but with him and gus about even now, at least take that gamble to see if he does grow...

but im done with this arguement ive said it 982u340981253 times on this board

Dead on! NOT! Not even close!

Which qb has probowl talent? Gus
Which has proven he can throw for 3500 yds? Gus
Which qb has prven he can throw for 400+yds a game? Gus
Which qb has more command of the team? Gus
Which one is wnated by teammates to start? Gus
Which one has played better in real games as of late? Gus
Which one has had less injuries? Gus
Which one has the coach named starter? Gus
Which one threw less int's? Gus
Which one is has a lingering buttocks injury? AJ
Which one has less game experience? AJ
Which one do I support to start? For now GUS

I am putting my faith in the staff's hands. I just want the better guy to be out there. I do not want another Fiedler situation.

I could careless about age! If you can not beat a guy out in practice, you can not beat him out!

As i have said every single time someone brings up the AJ debate...
I want the best QB to start.. Period. If feeley isnt starting its because Linehan and Saban dont think he is.

RW,Morris,Gordon,Minor have not done to much to seperate themselves from KJ. So I say start the inexpereinced guy, maybe he'll turn around. But that is just me and I am just a fan!

Ahhh...NO! I've seen all of Feeley I can stomach!!! Ferrotte even though he did not have a good game against Pitts., at least Knows the offense and is very well respected by the team as a leader. Feeley still looks like a deer in headlights.:shakeno:

If Berlin is the best guy, start him. If the qb of the IFL National champion Sioux Falls Storm is the best guy to help us win I say bring him in. I do not care if a guy is 5'2" 145lbs, if he is the best we could do start him!

Feeleys longest completion against the Steelers was 12 yards and you want to start him? If anything, his inability to go deep should scare the hell out of you.

Really, that is like saying that RW should be moved down the depth chart b/c his #'s in preseason are not to good. Well, we would have never had an 1800 yd rusher if you based the charts of pre-season.

In Gus I will have to trust.

lol@this... hey lets bring in vinny testeverde then, hes got all those over AJ and gus, haha and i guess the bengals should start jon kitna over palmer too, and kurt warner should have stayed in NY to play over eli, and dilfer should have played over hasselbeck in seattle...

let me ask you this, you think this season gus will get us more than 2 more wins than AJ will? if you think so id say ok start gus...

personally i dont, hed have trouble hitting a wall throwing the ball in a bathroom hes that accurate... i just dont see him doing any better than AJ, and if thats the case the best thing for the miami dolphins organization is to play AJ...

First, saying Gus has probowl talent is hysterical, really.

Second, you missed his point, we know what gus can do. There is a chance feeley can grow and be a better qb, better than gus. Why not give him a chance?

Third, It is not close to the Fielder situation....If feeley doesn't work this year, he is gone. Saban will not be holding him for the next 5 years.

If the staff picks Feeley, will you complain? Or will you keep this wonderful faith in staff outlook? I bet you will be screaming for the head of Saban if he comes out tomorrow and says feeley is starting.

You mean Feidler? Oh no, you are right. It just looked like a Fiedler offense!
I for one want an offense tha can threaten to throw deep. Or teams will line 9-10 guys in the box and pin their ears back! Give me some deep balls. That will soften up the pass rush, and the run D. Look at Minny. Every rb they put in is good. No safety support up close is good news for the running game.
