Opinion..is this game a franchise changer or just another regular season game?

9-7 will get you into the playoffs. Are you not understanding that?

Please be abit more original than the 'happy with mediocrity' line. I came into this season with expectations, 9-7/10-6, and pushing for a playoff spot. No where did I put a * and say, but to be complete, NE must be beaten in week 14.

The money spent and draft picks used, are your expectations. Where are those Sean "Shutdown" Smith guys? Vontae 'All Day' Davis fan boys? Its just I temper expectations based on reality. I was not on here after draft day saying Dion Jordan was going to put up Madden type numbers. This team is still in the process of building, and take away 2 offensive line men at a crucial time, in the teams chemistry and development....and we are where we are.

Well obviously you would be thrilled with losing to this team and beating the lowly bills and jets and getting stomped in the playoffs. This game is like a bully picking on a kid while he's still in the middle of growing up, when the kid finally grows up and says I'm ready to fight back and make people notice he goes out there and gets tossed around like a rag doll by the same bully that's gained 40 pounds of fat and slower than what he was. Get it? We need to win this game and finally step out from this shadow we stand behind.

Absolutely not. You can't put the entire seasons growth on one game. We will have a better record than last year unless we lose out. That is progress. Tannehill has clearly improved. That is progress. Our D has caused a turnover in every single game this year. That is progress. This is a young team getting better and better. Progress. I would obviously like to make the playoffs but this team has gotten better even if we don't. By your reasoning we could lose to the Pats and be the same ol Dolphins but still make the playoffs and win the superbowl. So no, The Pats game does not decide everything or anything for that matter.

That's hilarious. We're gonna lose to the pats then go on some miraculous 6 game win streak to win it all. We lose to the pats I would almost guarantee we lose at buffalo and maybe even the jets

I don't think it means much of anything. We're a middle of the pack team, same as last year. The details change slightly, inspiring short term hoopla or despair.

If we turn significantly positive in the following category, then I'll pay attention. It's the same link I've provided many times in the past. Luckily Bud Goode's site has been restored, after looking like it was gone for good. He died a couple of years ago.

There are many versions of these numbers but I prefer the base figures, the ones that don't make happy adjustments based on sacks or interceptions or other flimsy matters. All of my betting systems rely on the base differential:

This! People tend to the melodramatic here and the "woe is me..." Gimme a break. NE (and maybe the refs) break the heart of almost every team in the NFL If it happens to us, like just about everyone, and a 10-3 actually beats a 7-6 team, I aint jumping off a cliff or writing off everything this team has accomplished this year, and it has accomplished a lot. Because this team has heart, we are all wasting our lives here at the keyboard. You've ALREADY put the stamp of approval on them, so shut the heck up!

dr.phin the dirtbag cheats arent as good as they once were? well theyre 10-3 and the 2nd seed in the conference. beating them wont be special? really, what planet are you living on, mars? all this talk about them being old and a 2 man show and not the same- THEYRE 10-2 AND THE 2ND SEED IN THE AFC! this is an absolute must win and it would be a huge fuc**ng deal if we win! whether its by 1 or 30, just win!!!!!!!!!!!

You clearly missed the point....

I think it's coming, but I'm not sure this game is it. I'm hoping it is THE game this organization finally arrives. However, we may have to wait until next year for that. I'm not sure we are ready yet.

This question by the OP is similar to the one I posed for the first Pats game. It stated that, while we certainly were capable of beating the Pats, would we? Turns out we showed we had the talent in the first half, but that we weren't ready to win, as shown by the melt down in the second half of that game.

if we lose this game, we r the same old fins.

there is no ****ing reason why we should ****ing lose at home to a depleted pats team, a pats team that lets be real, despite there 10-3 record, is not playing very well, especially in the 1st half of games, there offense looks worse than the jets, lol.

if the dolphins want to be taken seriously, u ****ing win this game. good teams win games like this one. if we lose, we r frauds, and to me personally, we r the same old fins. get teased, but at end of day, cant come through when it matters most.

So maybe you don't loveyourfins4eva....

I think the team with out Martin's quit-gate would have stood out more in them turning the corner after the last Pats loss.

Oct 31 Cincinnati Won 22-20 OT A. Dalton (338) L. Miller (105) A. Green (128) Win
Nov 11 @Tampa Bay Lost 19-22 R. Tannehill (229) B. Leonard (57) R. Matthews (120) Loss
Nov 17 San Diego Won 20-16 P. Rivers (298) R. Mathews (127) C. Clay (90) Win
Nov 24 Carolina Lost 16-20 R. Tannehill (310) C. Newton (51) M. Wallace (127) Loss
Dec 1 @N.Y. Jets Won 23-3 R. Tannehill (331) L. Miller (72) B. Hartline (127) Win
Dec 8 @Pittsburgh Won 34-28 B. Roethlisberger (349) D. Thomas (105) A. Brown (137) Win

It's more important to win all 3 games for what they are 3 division opponents 2 of them being at home.We have to win 100 percent of our home division games.

I guess you mean this is one of the tools you use, are your more of a situational bettor? because majority of the ranking makes some kind of sense but there's like 25% of it that wouldn't correlate to wins at all...

It's neither. Its a season changing game. we win, we get national respect and the team has the confidence to go into buffalo and get a huge W. We lose and we are staring down the barrel. We do not want to go into Buffalo 7-7. They have our number. In fact if you were to ask me which game I think we would lose if we were to go 2-1, I'd pick Buffalo.

While it might be valid to draw certain conclusions from a game AFTER it is played, it is borderline ludicrous to set up a litmus test for what a game's outcome means BEFORE the game is even played.

I imagine if any NFL coaches read this thread, they would crack up at the people who actually believe they can do that.

Ifwe can't beat them at home with them missing heir top TE and their 2 top guys on defense then we'll never beat them.

Ozzy rules!!

Unfortunately, I think we could easily win the next three as easily as we could lose all three. We have played to our competition and have been in every game except the New Orleans game. If we lose 2 of the next 3 we need to fire Ireland and keep Philbin. We need to have continuity to overcome this long drought and that includes the QB position.
