Our Denial

Hells yeah..I'm a realist too. There's no stoping us this year period..We are going to D-O-M-I-N-A-T-E.

I agree that there will be no "stoping" us this year period. In fact, I dont think anyone will even try to dig a mine in south Florida, much less at Dolphins Stadium....you dig anywere and you hit water just a few feet below the surface.

" Wide-vein deposits contained within a sufficient supply of waste rock and that are at a vertical or steeply angled inclination are mined by a method called sublevel stoping"

As for "stopping" us.....time will tell.

Quote: Just look at how competitive the team was last year when the franchise became a laughingstock. If they could be close almost every week after all that went on last year, there is reason for optimism this year.

We were in a lot of games due to defense and we are very likely to give up a ton of deep bombs this year. I am talking about spirit killing touchdowns. That is really the worst thing about this team. I am not sure I would have let Pat Surtain go. But we have covered that.

the interception touchdowns our QB's gave up were not exactly enlightening.

i think most of the negative feelings have come from seeing Feeley play. i think most of our hopes were riding on his improvement and he doesnt appear to have done so

Wow, the NFL, and various cities and businesses are extremely thankful that you are in the minority.

Can you imagine 80,000 fans with your attitude in Tampa, Cincy, NY, Seattle, NE, etc a few years back? They teams would have went bankrupt because if I think my team sucks, I'm not wasting money on seats, merchandise, etc.

I sure bet there were plenty with the same attitude last year in SD, or that one year in Baltimore. That's why they play the game and fans root, because there's always hope and anything can happen on any given Sunday.

I think you missed the boat on what his post was about........... go buy some glasses and re-read please.

We are frightened that Losman only had an 87 QB rating in his first pre-season game.

Wasn't Frerotte's rating similar after ONE preseason game. But, Gus is a "marginal" player" and Losman is a bonafide starting caliber NFL QB who is going to lead his team into the playoffs.

Call me stupid but every game day I wake up excited and believe the Dolphins will win that days game.

The problem is the rest of the league has progressed. I know we are only 2 years removed from 10-6. Our schedule is brutal. I mean Denver, Atlanta, Carolina, and host of others not to mention our division play. I'd like to believe we are better than we are. I just dont see it.
A couple of points to make. On paper just about every team "progresses" every year. The losing teams get the high draft picks and/or offer the high dollar contracts to the top FA's. You can look at the rest of the league and point out moves that most teams have made and say sure this team or that team has gotten better. But in reality a great many of those moves that were meant to make a team better don't work out for any number of reasons. The Dolphins included. I looked at our schedule and being realistic I didn't see even one team on it that anyone should say we cannot beat. We'll be underdogs for sure, but upsets happen every week in the NFL. As for the division rivals. C'mon, division games are always a dog fight, and impossible to predict.
At this time predicting 12-4 is no more unrealistic than 4-12 or 1-15 or even 15-1. It's all conjecture.

Nobody thought we could defeat the Super Bowl Champ Patsies either, but we took care of them.....you have to be optomistic....it may take a while but Nick has brought in more talent than we have had in a long time. YES, we still have big questions at QB, our O-line, D-Backs....but I am looking at the glass as half FULL. :)

you know, i realize i am very hard on the dolphins and very critical, but i wake up each game day thinking that "hey, we may win this one", and i watch in anticipation of a win.

Even if we lose this week, on monday the slate gets wiped clean for me. I start looking forward to the next possible "win" next week. I am, after all, still a dolphins fan through thick and thin!

Like Captain Lou i am a fan and i wacth every game and I buy t-shirts and jerseys. but I am REALISTIC, If you watch every game thinking we are gonna win 35-0 you are either the biggest fan ever or you are dilusional. Because we are honest about the state the team is in doesn't make any of us more or less of a fin than anyone else.

Wow, well said. I have never felt that being a true fan meant that you have to pretend your team is a lot better than it is.

You hit it on the head my friend. It all comes down to hope. That's all being a fan is about fellas. Without it, success wouldn't lead us to hug the 300 pound sweaty guy standing next to you in the stands and failure wouldn't mean using your fist to put a dent in the front right quarter panel of your new Honda Accord.

That said, realism has a place. I allowed it to creep in last year when I sat back, looked at the horrendous, if not bizarre, off-season from hades, looked at the mentality imposed upon the team by the current coach and another year of Fiedler at QB (same ****; different year) and I said hey, you know what, it's just not gonna happen. Why last year and not this one? Because I KNEW what I could expect out of that year's team, from top to bottom...I'd seen it for several years before...the wheel was broken but nobody wanted to fix it. But this year is different my fellow Phinatics...this is the year we should all embrace hope...the hope brought to us by a new coach and a new OC and a new OL coach and a renewed spirit of optimism among the players. Without hope, my comrades, you might as well just become an Arizona Cardinals fan...(haha: I can say that b/c they broke my heart for over a decade as a youngster).

You are right I cant garauntee anything. You act as if I want us to finish last. The only thing that I'm broadcasting is the most likely senario. I want us to win it all but I promise you it aint going to happen. Our limitations and possibilities have nothing to do with your optomism or my realism. After week 5 revisit this post if I'm wrong let me have it. It would be my honor to eat my own words. People stop comparing us to the Rams,Chargers, or any other team. The team you need to compare us against is the team we were last season. We have the same o line. Our d line will be better, and our secondary will be weaker. We will have Ricky back and with the addition of Ronnie Brown will be more formidable on offense. I SAID WE WILL BE IMPROVED. Some of you wont be satisfied unless we make the playoffs. I would image it's the same people who use the lottery as a retirment plan. Great teams aren't losely put in place by a cast of has beens. It's going to take a year or 2 for Saban to have the personel in place to carry out his plan. Right now we are transitional.

No, I will be satisfied if we are progressing towards the ultimate goal, even if we finish 6-10.

The difference between us is I will not put limitations on them.

You seem to want to say that we have last years line, I will promise you the O-line will be vastly improved.
