How many times did we hear " We could have had Mallett" "Mallett is going to be a stud" "They won't miss a beat when Brady is done, Mallett is the man" etc. blah blah blah.

Yeah. He looked amazing.

Just admit you don't know what you are talking about, "geniuses".

As I said from the day he was drafted, Mallett sucks.

Learn.

Pre season or not, living up here, it's ALWAYS nice when the Pats lose

He didn't look good last night, that's for sure...hey, that was only week one. If he does it again, the PATS lost money and a higher draft pick. He's probably still worth a 3 or 4 to a QB needy team.

I don't know what Mallet has been doing for the past 3 years is it?

Dude had nothing but time to sit behind a HOF and Top 5 all time QB and just learn the game. Pick his brain, learn the craft, learn Brady study technique etc....

But nope.

Can't fairly judge him (or anyone) on that small sample size. But, we can say - That sample was not good. Phins up!!

Has he even played in an actual regular season game? As far as I know, he is still an unknown quantity with a ton of upside due to his sitting behind Brady for 3 years. One bad preseason game does not ruin his career. Hell, the jury is still out in T-Hill and he's played 32 games.

We have our own worries at QB. Let's just hope our guy makes it through tonight healthy. Besides if Tanney has a game similar to Mallet even as a 3rd year starter people would excuse his performance because it is a preseason game.

I wouldn't shut the door on Ryan Mallett after a bad preseason showing, but when you consider that Billy B is trying to drum up trade interest after drafting Jimmy G, it does make you wonder if Mallett's been a disappointment up there.

You don't have to wonder. He stinks and BB knows it. He's going to try and scam some desperate and gullible team to give up a draft pick.

Bill O'Brien, new HC of the Texans, was his OC before going to Penn State and he made no attempt to trade for him...that says something to me. Then you have the Patriots drafting Jimmy Garoppolo in the 2nd round of the draft. It seems to me that the Patriots were hoping Mallet would have had a good showing so they could trade him for a high draft pick but a guy who's career numbers of 1 completion on 4 attempts for 17 yards and 1 INT won't have anyone beating on the Patriots door.

I never liked him coming out of college. In the interviews he struck me as a coke head.

I don't think preseason means squat and I will always stick to that. However as some above alluded to, if Mallet was that impressive NE doesn't draft Jimmy G. Belechick is likely not feeling it with Mallet.

but bellicheck is a genius. I live in panthers town near charlotte, nc. the panthers placed their 6th round pick RB who is out for the season on IR, somehow the way things work out is that he has to clear waivers. well the pats picked him up and all the pats fans online were praising BB for being a genius because he STOLE a RB that was out for the season RB for the panthers, pretty much meaning he got a free sixth round pick. it was pretty much a d--k move to begin with, but how does this continue to make him a genius in the sports world amongst his fans?

Oh no this can't be our very own "expert" was on NFLN claiming Mallet is best thing since sliced bread!

Even if he does make it, which at this point seems unlikely, he was in the perfect situation in New England. He would never have made it here.
