Owner Stephen Ross is "ready to make a major offer," according to a source.

Ross can provide the upfront offer and J-Lo will handle the back load offer....lol

denvers got $50 mil in cap space...they could front load that manning contract and be fine...why would you backload a contract on an aging star who as the years pass you will get diminishing returns on...makes no sense

a 1% ownership piece coupled with some type of mgmt position to stay active in the game after retirement may be something Manning would want. I'm sure he thought he would always be a part of the Colts organization but here he is looking for a new team.
Any of the teams could offer money, but how many offer everything that South Florida has to offer, the on-field team we have, plus a small piece of the team and a role after your playing days are over if you choose to have one.

I like our chances. I'm not taking off the aqua and orange glasses until I have to.

So far i think KC was the only one that made it known they were ready to make an offer before they even met with him, he shot them down today. This could hurt Ross by doing this.

i mean they're all willing to make offers or they wouldn't have called after he was released...only reason some have backed off or dropped out is cause manning told them they weren't in play so making an offer i think is pretty much a given...just don't make it your selling point and everything with everyone we've approached as a coach has always been about money..."i won't be outbid" etc...that stuff just rubs these massive ego guys the wrong way...you got to massage these egos...harbaugh fisher and now manning...all massive egos all not just about money

everyone keeps saying cap space this and that.i really dont know about this but couldnt they just give a bunch of bonus money and that doesnt count against our cap.Or does it.

Any money paid to the Player counts against the cap. It doesn't matter if it is a bonus unless he gives up something like ownership in the company...

Is Ross going to clear it with JLo?

I wonder if Manning was still in consideration with the Jets, if the Jets would've had to ask the Giants if they could us the their stadium?

peyton mannings made probably over $150 mil in this league you're not gonna wow him at this stage with money imo...the guy who is gonna be a lot about money given he's coming off a 7th round rookie contract is a matt flynn...thats where words like i'm ready to make a massive offer and the such are gonna resonate more...miami is gonna have to be at worst in the ballpark with whatever other higherst offer he receives or i'll bet money he'll go elsewhere...with flynn it will be a lot about money cause he's looking for financial security...peyton had that years ago

you better come with something better than that ross...

and there it is...peyton beats to a different drum...how many guys you know who will show up without their agent cause they want to get to know the people not caring about the money as the end all be all...thats the problem i see for us ross wants to make it about money and peyton sees through it...ross ready to make a sustantial offer...that may be the case but keep that stuff under wraps and if you are gonna put something out there make it something like ross wants to get to know peyton manning or something that sounds heartfelt...you can't fix everything with just money...and thats what i see as being the issue with harbaugh and even fisher before and now potentially peyton...

we're gonna keep getting these same results til our approach changes...

I completely agree. With a classy guy like Manning, its not about the money right now, its about if he feels the team is all in to win a championship(s), adding the right pieces to the puzzle, the coaches have a big part to do with it, will peyton get the keys to the offense? all these are major factors because peyton wants to win!!! Not just collect as much money as he can for a few years before he retires.

Really? This song and dance again? Its not about the Jets, back to the topic. Welcome to the forum rook.

How do we know ross even said this...I love the term "source" because everyone claims to have one then wind up getting the story wrong. We need to just relax and let it play out instead of getting worked up over every twitter news report.

Peyton told seattle, kc and washington no...how come he didn't tell us that? Because we still have a shot and I'm my opinion I think we have a good shot at landing peyton still no matter what all these "reporters" are saying.

i'm chillin...if free agency opens on tuesday though and we don't have anything firm set up for a visit then i'll start thinking other options

I don't think the money he gets has anything to do with where he signs. The ability to sign several of his former team mates might.
Denver can do it. We would have to redo some contracts in order to compete with that.
If Peyton does not even visit with the Fins can someone make a F**K U sign to put up close to his condo ? How about an angry crowd to greet his plane ? I know a sky writer . Just saying.

I just don't get why everyone goes off the deep end over "twitter reporting"...you guys don't realize they say one thing then tell you the complete opposite two days later? Schefter, mortenson, clayton etc are wrong a lot ...beat writers are wrong a lot...I think people around here need to wait until something official comes out before flipping out. I mean If I wrote an article sating manning was leaning towards denver would you believe me? Just because someone is a reporter doesn't make it true, in todays world of reporting you don't need to be right you just need to be the first one to break the news, whether its right or not.
