P. Manning "Belikchick will go down as greatest NFL coach ever."

In all fairness to this ill-advised statement, Peyton never had the chance to play against the greatest.

Greatness doesn't look like 18-1, it looks like this:

Do you think BB could take a team to the SB with a QB like David Woodley? Absolutely NOT. Many of you were to young to see Woodley try to imitate an NFL QB. He was a poor man's Tim Tebow.
I will buy your silly argument when BB wins consistently with anyone other than Tom Brady. You also cannot conveniently dismiss Spygate, because Goodell destroyed all the tapes so no one will ever know the extent of the cheating. Shula won with Unitas, Morrall, Griese, Woodley/Strock and Marino. He went undefeated with an over the hill backup QB, through most of the season.
Grudgingly, I have to admit that Brady was/is a better QB than Marino. Marino was the best pure passer in NFL history, but Brady (and Manning) are better QBs (there is a difference). Marino had supreme confidence in his arm and never really became a student of the game. After 17 yrs, he still couldn't figure out a zone blitz. Marino got away with a lot of bad decisions early on, simply because he had a physically dominant arm (quick release, velocity and accuracy). There is a reason why he lasted to the end of the 1st round as there were concerns about his intelligence (low Wonderlic score). I don't put much stock in the rumors of partying and drug use.

With the injuries that NE has this has been one of the best coaching jobs in recent NFL history. I don't think any coach could pull off a super bowl with the injuries the Patriots have endured.
The receivers they have had to trot out this season are definitely not top notch. They didn't ride Brady's arm to victory last week they, ran all over the colts. I personally think they have a huge uphill battle to beat the Broncos

Taking a team quarterbacked by David Woodley is the BEST coaching job in NFL history. David Woodley was NOT an NFL caliber QB. He was athletic, but lacked pocket presence, accuracy and ability to read a defense. He was drafted in the late rounds as training camp fodder. I don't think Shula ever believed he would be the heir to Griese.
Had he been even an average NFL QB, I think the Phins could have beaten the Redskins. My recollection was that Woodley was 0 for 8 in the 2nd half of that SB.
I agree that BB is one of the best coaches in NFL history, BUT Shula is the greatest. His record speaks for itself.
Shula also coached in an era where there was no FA and because of his success he rarely was in a position to draft blue chip players. You couldn't just plug holes on your team by spending on FA's.

It could also be mentioned that he beat George Halas record in Philadelphia with a 3rd string QB...the immortal Scott Peterson.

Belichick will have the wins and more rings, but he will never have Shula's respect and integrity.

Brady and Belichick were continually helped by the refs since the arrived in New England and they were caught cheating.

"the brady rule"..enough said.

Why didn't Shula win a superbowl before he came to Miami. I ask again as great as Shula was how come he didn't win with Marino. No one faults Walsh for Montana, Noll for Bradshaw, Laundry for Staubach, Lombardi for Starr. People can hate on a coach with 5 damn superbowl wins as a coordinator and coach all they want but if you penalize him for Brady then you have to penalize most other great coaches that didn't win any championships without their hall of fame qb. If qb is all you need why does Manning have only one superbowl ring, same with Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees. A qb no matter how great wins jack all by himself and anyone that thinks otherwise is living in a delusional world. Bill walsh was 8-24 before Joe montanna. Chuck Noll had a losing record before Terry Bradshaw. A qb is important. The most important player position but if coaching doesn't matter than there are in reality no great coaches just qbs that won football games.

QB is a little different in today's game then it was for a those coaches. Those names are memorable because their teams won but there are a lot of other reasons that those teams won outside of QB play. QBs like Brady, and Manning do, and those two alone, make great teams/coaches. New England this year without Brady would have been pretty bad. I imagine Brady is irritated as hell rolling into the AFC Championship with A. Collie as his #1 Wideout. That's almost as bad or actually probably worse than the joke we tried with our oline this year. I realize you cannot account for arrests and injuries but the lack of talent that played that game was pretty astounding in regards to New England.

Vince Lombardi: not a cheater
Don Shula: not a cheater
Bill Walsh: not a cheater
George Halas: not a cheater
Tom Landry: not a cheater
Joe Gibbs: not a cheater
Chuck Noll: not a cheater

Bill Belichick: cheater

The end.

How do we know any of this? especially since your former HC admitted he did the same thing and it was done throughout the league.

I hate to break this to you but BB is the most respected Hc since Vince Lombardi in this game. regardless of what we think as fans, in the football world no one is more respected in the game that is alive.

Straight BS no qb can do it by himself as evidenced by Brady's day yesterday. To discount the coach in NE or not give him credit is quite disingenius but that's what other fans always say. Now if we win its because we have a good coach lol. People believe what they want so Im not going to knock your opinion but Qb was just as important in the past as it is today. It has always been the most important player on the field and that hasn't changed. Now have rules favored the passer , of course so if you have a top qb you use that to your advantage. I just don't get why people want to discount the job these coaches have done. If ll it took was a great qb then Manning would have a handful of rings by now.
