Panther WR Kelvin Benjamin gone for the season. Trade Matthews they could use him

Up and coming? It's his 4th year in the league and by all accounts, he's still our 5th WR... Now I'm not saying we should defiantly trade him because his value is marginal.... but if a team was willing to give us a decent guard or a good backup LT for him, you just have to pull the trigger...

No one has "decent" backup Olinemen that they want to trade, that doesn't really exist.

And trading matthews is pointless, were trying to win, not trade away good players.

This is the best roster we have had in a long time, you guys want to trade away one of our strengths.

Smh

3 years, 64 catches, 734 yards, 4 td's and some finheaven excitement will get you peanuts in a trade.

You keep Matthews.

Haven't you ever heard of the 3 year rule for WR's?

Usually takes them some time to get acclimated to the pro's.

This year expect to see huge gains made from him if given the opportunity.

We've invested a lot of time and roster space on Matthews and with his upside in mind its doubtful we'd get a trade offer at the value point needed -- I'd say at least a 3rd. I say that because the kid is easily worth a 3rd round value spot to us next draft to try and IMMEDIATELY replace his potential right now.

Percy Harvin, Brandon Marshall and Mike Wallace weren't worth a 3rd round pick, I'm not sure you could get that value for Miami's 4th or 5th receiver. Put it this way would you be ok with Miami trading a 3rd round pick for any other team's fifth receiver?

Apparently, nobody discussed that rule with Landry... besides that "rule" is no longer valid at all... the NFL as never been as WR friendly as it is these days... Good WRS make an impact much faster, there are plenty of examples out there....

If they want to give us AJ Kein then sure. But they wouldn't. I agree with most of the others, Mathews has a lot more value to us than he does any other team. Imagine what the Charlotte Observer would print if they gave up the farm for our 5th WR who has no more stats that Mathews. I can see us getting a lot more for Jennings who fans in Charlotte have at least heard of.

The Panthers do have a great 3rd string LB named Jason Trusnik that they may be willing to trade. :sidelol:

So true, and not just Jarvis, but Beckham, Benjamin, Evans, Watkins, Cooks and Mathews. I doubt there has ever been a year like last year where so many rookie WRs had such an impact on their teams.

Every guy is different but typically late rounders have a tough time catching on and climbing up the depth chart.

Yes the pass happy rules benefit them but many guys still struggle with route concepts and terminology.

This deal is more about him than for us. If all our more highly touted WR's are good as advertised as they we're before the training camp started, major decisions are going to be made about playing time, targets by Tanny. If I'm Matthew I'm asking what are your intentions with me after this season because I have a chance to go to this new city under the radar and become a star. This is not basketball were 3 great players on one teams still can get playing time and their fair share of shots.

Rishard could be a star in Charlotte and give himself the chance to be Cam Newton's go to guy. I live in Charlotte and believe me I don't see a Panther WR close to what Rishard could be(Ted Ginn is their most proven WR). We won't miss a beat and maybe get something really good in return from them.

Funny i was thinking the exact same thing when i saw that Kelvin was out for the season. Seems like a logical move - but who do we get from Carolina? They are not strong at oline i didn't think, no idea about safety.

matthews has like zero value and for most part has been a bubble player from year one

He is worth perhaps a 6th to most teams, but in carolinas position, I would seek a conditional 5th.

Matthews isn't in the long term plans with Miami. If he were they wouldn't have chased and signed stills, Jennings, Parker. I know other players have departed, but Matthews is a talent that's has peaked in Miami.

Another team may get more out of him. I would be happy with a 6th.

Good thing I didn't draft Cam Newton in my fantasy league....not sure who he is going to throw it to, and he may get busted up again running the ball. I would keep Matthews for now.
