parcells aint perfect

parcells wanted to draft cedric jones instead of phil simms in which george young went with simms. but i did see what he did with the pats first hand since im from new england.

If I'm not mistaken I think that I heard that it was in 93 and Parcells wanted Mirer over Bledsoe and Kraft went with Bledsoe.

Cedric Jones was the one with Terry Glenn when it came to a disagreement.

How can anyone say he hasn't built teams into winners, NE is the only team that he didn't have a final say. They still went to the Superbowl and every other team he was involved with were set up to do the same. Just because when he left and the replacements couldn't finish the job shows you how important his role is/was. If Dallas doesn't take advantage of their situation the blame is squarely on Wade Phillips not BP. Like anybody here wouldn't trade lineups with Dallas right now.
You can pick one or two players every year that should have been drafted on any team but it's the whole body of work that needs to be judged not a small part of it. BP does a great job overall as does BB in NE but there's always room for improvement.

I think Parcells is good at getting a group of guys and showing them how to play together as a team which creates a system and leads to wins. There are alot of teams that have superstars all over the field and can't win because their system sucks or the coaching is mediocre, look at the Browns,Rams,49ers etc.

No, I think what you are thinking of is when Kraft forced Parcells to draft Terry Glenn, that's one of the major reason that Bill left NE.

The year....1972....the Coach......Don Shula who resides in Perfectville.

Sorry....couldn't resist.

Actually a guy named Joe Thomas was in charge of player personnel at that time. Don Shula coached them, but he didn't pick'em.

Just wanted to echo this statement but add that the Fins are still in way better shape today then they were this time last season. Cam and crew were a total disaster from the FO down to the practice squad. Even though Parcels isn't in the position you'd necessarily want him to be in, he still gives you a way better chance to become a contender then anything you've had this decade.

One thing I'm sure of is that he'll find you guys a QB. Maybe not this offseason, but by next you should have "the" guy in place. I'm sure Fin fans the world over will breath a collective sigh of relief once the nightmare that had been the QB situation since Marino retired is finally over.

I agree Parcells has them in better shape and I like what I hear of Sparano but why will Mia have a QB in place w/in a year or 2? He didn't bring in Simms w/ the Giants, Bledsoe was not worth the #1 overall pick and was an average player throughout his career, he got lucky catching lightning in a bottle w/ Vinny and got lucky filling out his roster w/ Romo.

He also drafted Pennington and while things haven't exactly panned out as we'd hoped, at the time it was a pretty good move. You know the whole story there so there's no point in rehashing. He was a Parcels guy though and if not for some unlucky "breaks", well, you know... I guess he can be faulted for not seeing the potential durability problems though.

He wasn't worth the #1 but teams have done worse in that spot the Parcels did with Bledsoe. Once he finally put it together the Pats landed in the SB. He had a great season that year and had more then a few good ones beyond that.

Everywhere Parcells has been he's had good QB play at least at some point. Thats why I believe he'll solidy the position with the Fins as well. Going by Parcels track record it might only be for a few seasons but I'd imagine Fin fans would be fine with that given what the situation has been.

nobody's perfect but Bill and company are doing the rigth thing by building with younger guys that are not costing so much....players that will play a role. Now we'll wait and see what happens with draft day but I feel better about team already.

Ozzy rules!!

Bill Parcells is totally in control of this thing in Miami it wil really be his legacy for better or worse. He has handed picked the coach, GM plus everthing and everybody that the current Miami Dolphins stand for. If he fails he leaves with NFL with a bit of a black eye and if he wins he gets to tell every one I told you so. No other place Bill has been in charge like he has been here in Miami so he has plenty of incentive to get it right. I have reviewed the drafts where Bill has been and they have not always been outstand but you have to hope Bill knows this too which is one reason he hired Ireland. Bill may have his blue print for the protype player he craves but it will be up to Ireland to make sure the guy has the heart and smarts to play the game. Something that Bill has missed out on in the past!

.....

just remember that so far we have a totally new staff including trainers and almost a totally new rooster ..

when the hell did we get a Rooster on the team??????????

anyway, with Bill Parcells at the helm, i'm sure we will get that new rooster!
