EDIT FOR CLARITY: I don't think part of our TEAM'S problem is the fans. I think part of the problem for ALL OF YOU in accepting our mediocrity is the high expectations you are setting for this average team.

The team is average and we knew that coming into the season... but you're all getting frustrated wondering whats going wrong when the reality is our talent level is just not high enough to be consistently beating the good/great teams in the NFL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The biggest problem is before every season, even when we have been REALLY bad, a lot of you see the team as playoff caliber. I remember going into the 1-15 season, the majority of posters had us a 7-8 win team. Now, it's different to WANT better play, but you should know what we have and know what to EXPECT. If you're involved enough to make a user name and post on this message board then you're involved enough to know a really good team from what that is average. But every season people on this forum come in with the rosiest view of this team and that is part of what is setting up all these melt downs mid season.

Set the correct expectation for yourself and you wouldn't be dying after every loss. We are a team that is still under construction but we are seeing improvement. I think Tannehill has gotten better this season and so has our offense. Other than the game against New Orleans, we have done good things even in our losses... But our team needs work across the board. Hopefully we can continue to get better and hopefully the season ends up better than the way it has been going this month.

All I'm saying is you don't set such unreasonably lofty expectations for this season then you'll see that we're not THAT far away from being a contender. I know we're all anxious to finally see some winning football after a decade of ****, but wanting and getting are two different things.

I came into the season thinking we were going to go 9-7 and I'm still hoping we can finish that well (or ****, maybe better). I think we're still in a position to end up with that record... set the correct expectation.

Had the same 9-7 expectations. Next year I'm hoping 10-6 or 11-5 and Tannehill to finally settle down. This was my timeframe.

o please, 11-5 should be reasonable expectations considering the talent we had on our team.

the problem is the players are not playing up to the potential.

we ****ing started 3-0, at worst now we should be 5-2. even though we should have never blown the 17-3 lead yesterday, give us 2 losses vs the saints and pats, we should be 5-2.

you cant lose at home to balt and buff, especially buff coming off a bye week.

in the nfl, teams can go from bottom feeders to top of the division in 1 year.

11-5 is not a crazy expectation. talent is there, not playing up to it is the problem.

The way it looks now,a 9-7 expectation, is to high.

I never do a real prediction....I look at it as a floor/ceiling... for me Miami's floor was 7 - 9 and their ceiling was 10-6 and still feel they fall into that range.

Speaking for myself, the problem is still last week's loss to the Bills at home.

Before the start of the season, I usually hope that we split with the Pats, and concede the Pats away game.

I expected them to probably lose, what hurts is to see how well they played in the first half and then see
it slip away so fugly in the 2ndf half. They REALLY need to start winning all their remaining division games NOW.

not sure 11-5 is reasonable expectation with the so called talent we have.

Yup, everyone, I apologize.

It's my fault. ALL MY FAULT.

I shouldn't have expected a team that went 7-9 in 2012, who then spent $200m ($100m of that in guaranteed contracts) to progress and get any better in any way shape or form.

I have let you all down.

Yea. Thats the problem. What the fans think has a real impact on games. Get real.

Also, the notion that people shouldnt have expectations is silly. What kind of team would have its players start the year feeling like 8 wins is a good thing? I guarantee every player in that locker room expected to win the division this year and its the entire reason they play. Then they remembered Turnoverhill was their QB.

Expecting my favorite team to win more games than we lose is the problem? Man, this makes ALL the sense in the world! :rolleyes2:

we started out 3-0 and both the Pats and jets looked beatable...yes, my expectations were raised...i picked us to go 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7 at best...after 3-0 i expected us not to lose to anyone but the saints and cinci, and maybe once to the pats....

Anyone who is a rational fan probably has the expectation that the team will progress and are tired of key positional players not progressing. They are tired of the every 3 year blow up. They are tired of hearing skill players (Wallace, Marshall) will solve everything. They are tired of riding the qb carousel. They are tired of empty promises by the owner who has way more money than nfl smarts. Get the picture? Is, after 16 years, asking for a legit qb too much to ask? In my opinion asking for basic team necessities to put us in a spot to actually challenge for a title (I don't want round 1 playoff loss consolation prizes) setting inflated expectations? I mean it's been 20 years since we challenged for a Super Bowl birth and 30 years since the last Super Bowl. When is it ok to be upset?
