Part of the problem is posters here setting a 11-5+ expectation EVERY season

There is no way you can blame the fans with high expectations, with the draft picks and considering the positives from the previous season it was not a long shot for this team to win 4 more games. Even going 10-6 would have been acceptable by most, but now sitting at 3-4 and possibly finishing less than .500 again is a complete failure. As fans we pay for the merchandise, jerseys, and tickets to games. We are not getting a return on our investment, and how can you expect a family of 4 to drop a thousand on a game for a team that literally sputters consistently. I can not blame fans for not wanting to show. The team is just lame, flat, and with no excitement.

I'm not blaming the fans at all. The team went 7-9 last season and if we go 9-7 this season then technically we have seen improvement. I'm trying to convey that some of you have an unreasonable or unreal expectation for this team.

I get it, we all want them to be better, we've been patient through all the **** seasons. But just cause we want them to be better doesn't mean they actually will be better. Then downgraded overall in the LB unit and it shows. They overpaid for Reshad Jones and it's showing. They didn't do enough to take care of the OL and it's showing big time. These are just the black and white FACTS of the situation. I want them to be 11-5 to but I was EXPECTING 8-8 or 9-7 because I knew we were a flawed team.

Just cause we went 3-0 to start doesn't mean our flaws went away. In our 3 "close" losses we did good and bad things. In the Pats game we played great in the first half but the flaws came out in the 2nd half. In the Bills and Ravens games our OL flaw showed in a big way.

We're a flawed team that is improving... if you don't expect 11-5 from THIS team then you wouldn't be having a melt down every week. Doesn't mean I'm not frustrated with the team, I just see them for what they are.

So in what year during my lifetime can I expect an 11 win season? 2020? 2030? Or will it be after my death? -- keep in mind I am only 26.

Yup, everyone, I apologize.

It's my fault. ALL MY FAULT.

I shouldn't have expected a team that went 7-9 in 2012, who then spent $200m ($100m of that in guaranteed contracts) to progress and get any better in any way shape or form.

I have let you all down.

I can't even remember the last time I honestly expected an 11-5 season. Maybe 2002, since they were coming off back to back 11-5 seasons and had added Ricky Williams.....or maybe 2003. Probably not since then.

Shoot, I'm not sure I even expected 11-5 in 2008 until Favre threw that illegal forward pass on 4th down in the final seconds of the last game of the season.

The biggest problem is before every season, even when we have been REALLY bad, a lot of you see the team as playoff caliber. I remember going into the 1-15 season, the majority of posters had us a 7-8 win team. Now, it's different to WANT better play, but you should know what we have and know what to EXPECT. If you're involved enough to make a user name and post on this message board then you're involved enough to know a really good team from what that is average. But every season people on this forum come in with the rosiest view of this team and that is part of what is setting up all these melt downs mid season.

Set the correct expectation for yourself and you wouldn't be dying after every loss. We are a team that is still under construction but we are seeing improvement. I think Tannehill has gotten better this season and so has our offense. Other than the game against New Orleans, we have done good things even in our losses... But our team needs work across the board. Hopefully we can continue to get better and hopefully the season ends up better than the way it has been going this month.

All I'm saying is you don't set such unreasonably lofty expectations for this season then you'll see that we're not THAT far away from being a contender. I know we're all anxious to finally see some winning football after a decade of ****, but wanting and getting are two different things.

I came into the season thinking we were going to go 9-7 and I'm still hoping we can finish that well (or ****, maybe better). I think we're still in a position to end up with that record... set the correct expectation.

This sucks dude. I have a expectation of beating Buffalo at Home after a Bye when they have a practice squad QB playing, I have the correct expectation, that even with a 17-3 lead on the Pats we are going to Lose, because we have all watched this before.

I can't tell you when it is going to happen, but I can tell you that it will never happen as long as Jeff Ireland is our general manager.

There go those darn fans again. Imagine how wonderful it would be if fans didn't expect a quality product.

Not really. My expectation is for Miami to start playing better and making upward progress. It's been the same junk for 15 years. That's frustrating.

Please explain to me why 11-5 is impossible, considering we saw a team do it a couple years ago whose starting QB opened camp with a different team, had a terrible defense, won a single game the year before, and was in such a state of rebuilding that even the freaking punter got traded. Minus 2011, when we knew this staff and talent couldn't overcome the lockout like more cohesive teams could, I don't think there was a year when it wasn't possible. We just managed to screw it up every year.

The sad part about this year is that we're close...closer than we've been for a while. 5-2 is where we could easily be...not counting the Patsies or Saints games. Ravens and Bills were winnable home games that we will pay for later. Now we have to win against the Bengals (on a roll) to get back to .500. I hate to say it but this is the kind of game this team will win just to pull us back in. I think we all see a better level of talent in the skill positions...and the expectations are that we should win the close ones instead of the chokes we have seen in the last month. A competitive team for once would be nice that we could count on to beat the Bills at home. That would be a realistic expectation. Winning record...realistic expectation. A team that plays to its level of talent and plays better than its individual parts. That would be nice. The last time that happened was with Sparano at HC in 2008. I expect better than what we have seen.

If everyone would just settle down and accept 7-9 seasons, our expectations wouldn't be dashed and we could be happy.

Never set high expectations with this team...

Been burned too many times the past decade+...

I know I predicted 7-9. I don't understand why everyone else didn't see it the same way.
