In the last two games, Tannehill has been sacked 4 times, 4 hits, and 10 hurries, with 3 batted passes vs Buff, and 5 sacks, 4 hits, and 11 hurries, with 3 batted passes vs KC. That is a hell of a lot of pressure.

For the year we have 11 or 12 drops which is first or second in the NFL. The average is 4-5. More importantly, those drops cost RT 141 yards in the air not counting the potential yards after catch. This was way more than any NFL QB, and I think we would all agree that there were 2-3 TD's in there. Add a couple of TD's and he is top 5 in the NFL.

That said, we have all seen that RT has not looked good. Was the pass protection and drops a big reason or, just a small part of the problem?

There are many other QB's with drops. However, the other QB's have not had the same to overcome. Peyton, Brady, Ben, Romo, Foles, and Ryan have all had less than 20 yards in drops. A bunch of others are around the average of 45 yards. Add in that the others are not as desperate as we are for O. It has to have a bigger effect.

Not in any way saying that RT does not have to step up and prove that he is the answer at QB. He most certainly does or, we are looking at yet another 3-4 years of going nowhere

QB is one of many problems with the offense right now. I remain optimistic that Bill Lazor can get more out of Ryan Tannehill and get him to play with the kind of consistency that he needs. I also have optimism for the OL once Pouncey comes back, and hopefully if they can figure out how to get Billy Turner ready to come in at right guard.

And yes, 12 drops is the highest in the NFL. The next highest team is credited with 8. I think that will improve, because Landry, Gibson, and Clay have all been big culprits on those drops (I think 6 or 7 total between them) and they are players who have been sure-handed in the past. I really don't expect to see those three players continue to drop footballs that hit them in the hands.

Even though I continue to support the QB, the truth is that he will be the one question mark going forward. I think the pass protection will improve as soon as we can get Satele and Thomas out of the starting lineup, and I think the drops will simply improve as normally sure-handed receivers get more opportunities.

Drops or not he is not putting the ball where he wants or where it needs to be..
Sacks or not when the time is there he is not hitting the open man.. When pressured he barely checks down.
I agree his numbers would be better, but he would still be working out the stretch with the way we play in the first half of games

IMO, RT has been checking down much more than last year, and following Lazor to get rid of the ball quickly. My concern, from last year, was the picks, and he has had only 2 meaningless ones so far. I think the dink and dunk attack has been on Lazor.

Tannehill has almost always played the game "safe". Hard to win that way unless you have a dominant defense and a bludgeoning rushing attack.

Satele is playing well, but he is no Pouncey. I noticed that the batted passes have gone up this season, and I wonder if that is because of Satele? I will be happy to see Pouncey back and have a capable back-up in Satele. Just need to win this game before the bye week.

Last year, RT had 8 batted passes, no big deal. This year, he has 6 in 2 games. As the announcer said, must be his low delivery. :)

His delivery IS low though, regardless of the # of batted passes this year compared to last.

learnin' a new NFL offense ain't baking cookies, kids.. sh** takes time to gel 'under live fire'... that said, 17 does have to get his footwork right.. get the throw moved if need be.. learn which is it, a two-hitch or 3.. can't read 2 post-snap, know where the outlet is.. all that jizz.. the bye being now is good for him, so he & Lazorman can start fixing some of this.. look for better flow by Game7-9

btw, 17 ain't alone out there 'thinking football'... the WRs are too.. thats why run game is good now.. short/middle pass game should click, then downfield.. #process

My thoughts are that; the pass protection has been better than last year, (and the run game going), and Tannehill has at times looked very bad, but the drops are really, really, killing us

Well if you're right, the good news is that the OC agrees with you.

If Tanny doesn't get yanked at some point, Lazor better realize his attempts have to come down. I'm talking WAAAAAAY down. He's simply not that kind of QB. Dude is averging 41 attempts/game. :idk:

Totally agree, especially when your getting 5+ yards a pop in the running game...

Agree here. That's one thing that has really surprised about Lazor so far. Especially coming from the Eagles last season where they were the most balanced offensive team in the NFL. Either Lazor is trying to aggressively get the passing game up to speed thru an ill-advised amount of game reps or... he just doesn't get it and this offense is also above his head. To early to judge on the later assumption, so I hope it's the first for the sake of our team. But still not an intelligent approach. Just because the league is pass-friendly, doesn't mean we should be pass-happy.
