Patriots, Everytime a Surprise????

because they have good solid players at every position on the perimeter... and they don't dance around or run lazy routes... they hit the hole hard, and fast, right where it's designed to be... their passing is all timing... and it's often flawless, as long as Brady has 3+ seconds to step into a throw... and even if not, he still often completes the pass... and they do it with a back-up center and a back-up left tackle... and six DBs on IR.... we should hope and pray to be that machine-like in the coming years...

perhaps dropping that linebacker back to cover Vrabel allows the easy Dillon off-tackle score... and teams aren't willing to do that, based on tendency...

at some point (maybe in 2025, when a lot of people have matured and look back on this team), people will acknowledge that the New England Patriots were the best coached, most talented team of their era... and arguably one of the best teams of all-time... if they still won't acknowledge it by then, they'll forever be baffled by what makes a successful NFL team...

It never ceases to amaze me how people still keep underestimating the Pats and Tom Brady. If you listen to them you would be led to beleve that they have some kind of endless luck.

Isnt the object of the game to win championships and SBs.

If the Pats somehow get into the SB again this year after all the injuries and coaching changes they have had to endure do you think these same people will think its still luck.Probably.:shakeno:

I hope the Steelers or Jacksonville whup them in the playoffs....if not then hopefully the Colts or Broncos will. I am so sick of the Pats. I hate them. :yell: :fire:

I just don't get it. I know this thread doesn't belong in the main forum but I have to vent. Why is it that the Pats can do the same crap week after week and their opponent always looks surprised???? It drives me nuts. If you ever see mike vrabel in the game at the goal line why wouldn't you cover him. No one ever does. Do team even watch film before playing New England?? Sometimes when I watch them play it looks like they're the only team with a game plan. They like to use the element of surprise, you know do what you don't expect them to do. 8 straight running plays for example. Why does everybody who plays them just try the same old conventional crap the do against everyone else. Why doesn't anyone ever try to surprise the Pats. Sorry just venting, can't help it.

They are the masters of executions. If you notice, their "same" plays are a little different. vrabel can catch a ball as well as anyone we have. But then again, Brady throws a ball better than anyone we have.

Sometimes it does look like no-one walks into the game with a plan against the pats

they are a good team but we always walk into the game prepared and we play them well....why dont other teams?

I agree 100%. I figured some posters would just think I just have no respect for the Pats. That's not the case. I know How good they are, probably the best coached team in the league with the most efficient and clutch QB playing for them. Hey, I've argued that Brady > Montana. All the more reason to have a specific plan, where you pull out all of the stops to beat them as you're probably outmatched. Instead, what happens is teams come in with the same old crap that they feel they do well and the Pats pull out all of the stops to beat the inferior team. It should be opposite.

Look at Pittsburgh in the AFC title game last year. Their gameplan was the same old 3 yards and a cloud of dust on 1st and 2nd down, pass of 3rd down when everybody, including people who never watch football, knows they're going to throw, so the pass goes incomplete or, in that game was picked off and returned for a TD. Then in the 2nd half when the Steelers opened it up a little, low and behold they scored the majority of their points and almost made a game of it. That is exactly what I'm talking about. Why not surprise NE by opening it up right away. NOOOOOOO Cowher has to go with Bettis for 2, Bettis for 2, throw, incomplete and Punt for a whole half. I'm saying the Pats were the better team, all the more reason to do whatever it takes to get an edge. I just don't feel you can beat them with what you do week after week.

fool me once, shame on you.... fool me twice,... i must be the Jets...

Exactly. After watching them for the last five or so years, I think you should go into a game against the Pats feeling like they're going to take away whatever it is that you do best... so you better have something new or different to throw at them.

I've never seen a team so good at neutralizing another team's greatest strength. This year they've been human... but the last two years, the only way you beat them was to not make any mistakes and hope they beat themselves.

My point exactly.

The Patriots out-execute most if not all teams. They make no secret of what they try to do everyweek and they still get it done. Theres no defense for great execution, if you execute the gameplan flawlessly or near flawlessly teams cant do squat. They are the best team over the past 5-10 years there is no question.
