Patriots trade logan Mankins to Bucs, possible good news for our dline

Marcus Cannon is starting at guard for them. Also so Goodall fed Jordan the roids

That's not whats on there depth chart right now. But hey, you want to play your swing tackle full time? Got no problem with that. I think their tackles are way overrated. That's why no one sniffed Vollmer in offseason. No one. Everyone knows the Pats are all Brady.

And you may not want to believe it, but if guys are not hiding smoking pot, you think they are not doing roids? You think this isn't baseball huh? lol yeah, ok. whatever. they pick and choose and no one knows any different. whatever, doesn't matter to me, I think we sink Brady again in the heat.

While its effects may be negligible come week one, I don't think its good news at all. It seems to me like a typical Bucs move and a typical Pats move. The Bucs trade a talented player whose value is low while the Pats get someone who can be a key player for them plus they traded a guy who is almost surely entering his decline phase that the team can easily replace by guys versed in their system.

Tim Wright is a good tight end who for some reason got in the doghouse with a new staff. He's a more natural and fluid pass catcher than Charles Clay, and he possesses the natural athletic ability of some wide receivers while being able to play the TE position. Trade him for Julian Thomas and Peyton Manning would make him a pro bowler. We'll see what Brady can do with him, but my guess is by midseason the guy is going to be making his impact felt.

I don't know about the guard situation but that kid Wright looks like a smart addition for them, certainly much better than the guys they were using in our second meeting last season

Im assuming two things. One they have a guard that is doing well in preseason(have no clue who that is) and Mankins is too expensive for them. The Pats always sell early on their older players which I guess is better than selling late.
I don't get the move but am trying to find out if they are realy impressed with another guy

You nailed it. Josh Kline (24 years old) has had an outstanding camp and Mankins cap hit was huge.

The move is not really surprising as the Pats also let go Lawyer Milloy and Richard Seymour coming off All-Pro seasons.

Wright will be used as a Hernandez clone.

Good move by the Pats.

So cannon gets bumped up to a starting guard...interesting we will see how he looks in a phone booth

Actually Cannon has been the starting guard all preseason, Connally goes back to being a starter

I'm very happy that Mankins is out of the division. That guy is a F...... Beast! He isn't a spring chicken anymore and has some injury concerns, but I think the Patriots got the short end of the stick.

That Patriots team is built around keeping a clean pocket for Brady to destroy defenses. It ak it's OL to be great at pass pro and quickly flip to take advantage of coverage defenses by running against light fronts.

After Brady, the OL is the biggest advantage the Patriots have ... even more important than Revis.

Mankins may equate to a 4th rounder plus a Scrub for Tampa Bay, but he was more valuable to Brady the that 4th ever will be.

If i had to guess, I'd guess this was a salary cap casualty that Belichik cast off while he still had trade value. But like the Welker cut and Amendola purchase, I think it is penny wise pound foolish.

Backup Josh Kline is expected to replace Mankins. PFF rated him as a poor pass protector last season.

Randy Starks is going to have some fun in a couple weeks.

You hope. The Pats continue to make questionable moves, eventually it will catch up to them, and when it does, no matter how good a HC Bill is, or how good a QB Brady is, it will hurt, and cost them.

Hasn't caught up to the Pats yet.

When was the last time you saw an aging Pats veteran perform poorly on the field?

You haven't, because BB gets rid of them prior to reaching that point.

I read through a couple of local news articles. It seems like it was a value issue. There have been reports that the Patriot FO ask to renegotiate the contract twice. He refused the request twice according to the article. I am sure it related to declining skills, but the players seem to be very unhappy.

That is true, Pats asked Mankins twice to restructure his contract in order to reduce his cap hit. Both times he said no.

And I don't blame him for saying no. I would too. By moving to TB he keeps that salary does he not? He was pretty good overall last year, great run blocking, so-so pass pro, but rated fairly high.

He don't owe Belicheat / Krappt anything.

That said, it's a young man's game (except QB and kicking) and you gotta refresh your key spots. Seems to me the Pats came out ahead in this deal.
