Pats sign Marcus Thigpen

It doesn't matter. Can Philbin outcoach BB in a live game situation? He did once last season. Mostly he cannot. That's the biggest edge the Pats have right now. Adjustments.

really? so billy was adjusting to Reshard Matthews in the second half last year?

Lazor is the equalizer here. Which is why Billy is attempting anything he can to figure this thing out for his players who wont know whats hitting them when they see stuff right before there eyes they have never seen before. whether chip Kelly or otherwise.

We have 5 very capable WR's and they are going to focus on Clay? have fun with that bill.

And another thing. Our big Tackles should be able to take care of 250/265 pound guys.
Vince Wilfork is having his first big test on his Achilles. If he were playing in Miami, all they would say all day long is how that is an uphill battle. But because he plays for the pats, they don't say anything. well, reality is reality and if we start pounding that rock down his fat ass (did anyone see his interview with the media sweating his ass off long after practice?).

Fact is, there is a lot here no one is paying attention to on our side of things because its all based on perceptions.

But BB knows whats happening. You can bet you he is worried about losing this first game.

It makes me feel good that we had enough talent to be able to cut Thigpen. Still, I thought it was dumb to remove him from RB in the first place.
Also, I'm not happy with cutting Damian Williams. Why sign him in the first place? He did great this offseason and preseason and we cut him anyway. Maybe they didn't think Landry would be ready this soon?

I'm not so sure that we do have the talent to cut Thigpen, we just did anyway. We didn't cut him for several talented prospects, we cut him to carry two UDFA's who are both undersized at his former position.

Who is undersized at RB?

Damien Williams: 5'11", 221 lbs

Matt Forte: 6'2", 218 lbs

Adrian Peterson: 6'1", 217 lbs

Ahmad Bradshaw: 5'10", 217 lbs

Frank Gore: 5'9", 217 lbs

Orleans Darkwa: 6'0", 215 lbs

Marshawn Lynch: 5'11", 215 lbs

DeAngelo Williams: 5'9", 215 lbs

LeSean McCoy: 5'11", 208 lbs

Marcus Thigpen: 5'9", 200 lbs

What the hell is Thigpen thinking with this move? Payback? It isn't like he's going to go the Daunte Culpepper route and actually do something against Miami.

Damien Williams is not undersized - he is built. I initially thought he was probably a Safety or LB when I first met him

It's not like they're signing scrubs, they're signing bubble players... yeah, he'll get info from them, but someone like Thigpen can maybe end up making noise for the Pats and Don Jones was a ST standout for us last season.

And in the case of Jones, they're signing 1. A player that will immediately become their best special teams player, and 2. A player w. huge upside at safety. He develops well and in a year or two he'll be far more talented than any safety on Miami's roster.

Some people admire Bill Belichick. I frickin loathe his troll guts.

Wow! I really hope you are joking lol

1. Its allowed so you need to be more upset about the NFL allowing it than Bill doing it. Really while thats not my style its probably something the phins should be doing too just to take advantage of the situation and at least make it a fair playing field with the Pats. If enough teams did it probably the NFL would lay down some ground rules to stop it which they should. For example it would be fair to sign any player from any team in the offseason but once the season begins you cannot sign any player of any team you are going to play in the next 4 weeks.

Stopping a player from going to a team who might be offering him a tryout or contract simply because it's someone your former team is facing in the next four weeks? Ya, you'll never see that. The NFL has no right to do such a thing because there aren't any non-compete clauses and there are certainly no non-disclosures.

Except the Dolphins actually brought those guys in to play for the team. Not likely that Jones or Thigpen play or even stay on the team for long.

We don't know that yet. However, it's allowable and it's a win-win scenario. A: They get to kick the tires on a guy who's played for a division rival and B: If he's got upside he could stick with the team.

Saying "well we signed him to a long term deal" is splitting hairs. They're still divulging information for the chance to give their current team an edge against their former.

The outrage here should be that Philbin and Co do not return the favor or take more advantage of the system as it stands.

Let me see, I can get a game day paycheck, or I can flip me some burgers at the local Waffle House.
:ponder:

As someone posted earler he's filling the Pat's new IT position. Make him PS eledgable

He got inside information on defense. Now he's getting inside information on offense.

It's about upside.

Jones lack of player development is what has held him back -- not his skills.

The fact that people can't see that is the same thing that causes a team to value mediocre "consistency" over developed upside -- basically the same way Ireland packed an entire roster w. zero playmakers and had to overpay for FA talent.
