Pats vs Fins pre-game discussion

The fins are 6-6 at home vs Brady since he has been QB. We play em tough down here, but last year they had a ton of injuries. They are MUCH better than they were last year. They could easily be in the super bowl this year. They have very few weaknesses and their defense will turn us over. Adding Revis will make it really tough to win this game.
I feel we have to run for 150 minimum, Ryan has to rush for at least 50, Wallace has to catch at least one deep ball, and we have to win the turnover battle, just to be in the ball game in the 4th. They are better at nearly every single position including head coach. The only areas I see us as having an advantage is OC, and WR. I give us less than a 30% chance of winning. The pats if they stay healthy will win 13 games this year. And they rarely lose their first one.

yeah maybe, pass rush is overblown, both the Bills and You guys had more pressure and sacks. Bills won 6 games you guys 8

All coaches and GM's would disagree but, it is only one part of the game.

The phins had a ton of injuries and were playing with 3rd string players in the secondary in that win vs the Pats. The Phins are much better than last yr too. If you want to make a point don't use double standards.

We've proven we can play with the Pats...for a half. I think if we keep the Pats from stealing our signa...er, our play calling fresh, we can hold on to a lead, unlike last year.

Did you miss the second game, and how can someone ...er stammer while typing? I want some of what you are having. :)

Ranked 14th in takeaways, you make it seem like we were bottom of the barrel at it (kind of like how our offense is bottom of the barrel at EVERYTHING). So you found something insignificant to bitch about for our defense, talk to me about why they were more the problem than our offense. I'm open to someone who can change my mind on this one.

18th in takeaways per game. Only 4 teams with less than that made the playoffs. Saints, Chargers, Green Bay, Denver. Notice something about all these teams? If you're expecting Tannehill in his 2nd year to match the QBs of these teams, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

18th in 3rd downs allowed. Only 3 teams in the playoffs were worse. Eagles, Patriots and Chargers.

Clearly the defense was the strength of the team but they had significant flaws and simply weren't good enough to hang with the elite teams. This defense has issues getting off the field. Sure it's great that they are not allowing touchdowns, but the other teams defense is chilling out on the sideline getting rested while we continue to allow teams to extend drives with poor 3rd down execution and stupid penalties.

How do you guys feel about the change? serious question, do you feel confident about your OL?

Not sure. I thought it was bad last year. When Mankins got traded I just said to myself "In Bill we trust" and that's basically it.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Dolphins got a lot of pressure in the first half, and the Patriots tighten up in the second.

Anyway, I heard something I thought was interesting from Fauria on the radio. He said, and said Bruschi also said, that when the Patriots get their schedule, they check two things first: When is the bye, and when do they have to play in Miami heat.

Fauria was explaining how brutal it is. I mean I always knew it was a home field advantage, but I didn't realize the players respected the Miami heat and humidity as much as they do. He was telling stories about his socks being absolutely soaked, and just being drenched in sweat, and looking at the Dolphin guys who looked fine and fresh

I never worry about the Dolphins at the Razor (no offense) but I'm always happy when we get the W over with down there

I should say sacks are overblown. pressure is definitely needed

Depends on the circumstance of the sack for me. Does it change a fg to a punt, a 3 and 1 to 3 and 8, safety in overtime to beat the Bengals? When a sack can change the outcome of a drive or game is when it matters the most.

I can appreciate the confidence you have in the zebras at home.

The area am most worried about (like other have said) is the LB core and how they handle Vereen and Gronk....those two players I feel can do damage against this ****ty unit as well as the hobbits underneath. The only saving grace is that Gronk may be limited. I feel the phins can get some pressure, but it may be null and void if the Pats dink and dunk the **** out of the phins and work those 15 play drives.

I will refrain from saying with confidence this is a playoff team until after the pats game. I think the dolphins are good enough but I want a game to see if this offense is as potent as I think they will be. If we lose a high scoring game I will feel better and if we win I will definitely feel better. I wanna see 30 points basically

I Agree with a high Scoring But lets look at the past history , shall we ? The Patriots have seen 6 of their last 8-games versus division opponents go under the total. New England has also seen 7 of their last 9 road games go under the number when the total is 45.5 or more. Unfortunately they’ve gone just 1-8 ATS in those 9-games. The Patriots have gone 0-6 ATS in their 6 as a road favorite of 2.0 or more. New England has won their last 10 season openers. SOOO LETS BE OPTIMISTIC ShALL WeE LOL.

New England was poor as a road favorite last year. But very good as road underdog. Basically the underdog covered virtually every Patriots road game last season.

But a year earlier New England was road chalk 7 times and won 6 of them by 7 points or more. The only exception was a 1 point defeat at Seattle.

I expect to lose, and probably not cover, but it would be awesome if the Dolphins could saddle Brady with a loss and consequently get rid of both Green Bay and New England as potential unbeatens in the opening weekend. I always prioritize that 1972 feat first, and removing the great quarterbacks is always the target. In Rodgers' prime it's fantastic when another season ticks away with no chance for him to run the table.

I'm worried about "JIMMY MAKES PLAYS!!" Especially with the LB corps so depleted. What **** luck to have LB as the biggest weakness on the team and have two players listed out and two more banged up for week one.

Another bad sign for Jimmy is the fact that we're showing interest in Clemons. Hopefully we luck out and get the Jimmy Omar had been seeing in training camp and not the Jimmy we see standing around with his hands on his hips as a player walks into the end zone or the Jimmy that bounces off players as the last line of defense.

His patented "swinging-arm" tackle.
