I just had an eerie feeling that Pennington wasn't hismelf yesterday. I knew he was injured, but I just wasn't sure how bad it would bother him. He was definetley not playing like himself

Play calling was ultra conservative in the 1st quarter. Penny came through when we needed him most, so i'm satisfied. But yeah i expect for him to pick new england a part this sunday. He'll be ready.

you wanna kno what i love most about penny..... he wins those really close games that last year we prolly would have lost... doesnt throw many picks... gets the job done..... and hes really accurate(i heard i can spell) but reallly i would rather have him because he may not be able to throw the ball 50 plus yards or whatever but he finds open recievers and we win. hes a great team leader and a great coach to these young rookies learnin what the nfl is all about

PEnnington plays threw an Inflamated Tendon. Say what you want, Hate him or like him. One thing is for sure if Henne plays yesterday we lose that game. Pennington has been great for us this year and the little pencil neck geek is Tuff as Nailz.

First off, since nobody has mentioned it yet, it's through, not threw.

Secondly, how do you know that if Henne plays we'd have lost that game? Perhaps we would have scored more points and won by a bigger margin?

Third, I agree that Pennington has been great for us this year and I am really glad to have him on the team.

Fourth, I don't believe he is tough as nails, he is actually injury prone and I believe he has only made it through one season in his career.

I agree with the premise of your thread though, Pennington has played great so far. :up:

I give him credit for those long drives to win games, and I give him credit for us being in the position to where we needed those drives to win games.

How did he put us in position to need that drive against Oakland. Does he change jerseys and play special teams?
He also didn't stop a drive by fumbling, miss a block that caused him to take a safety, drop 2 passes that hit him in the hands, or choose to punt instead of trying a 52 yard field goal (a decision I agree with). That FG would have made the ensuing punt return for a TD not happen and give us a 9 point lead if successful. Chad played a pretty near error free game against one of the best pass defenses in the league. The conservative play calling (which I also agreed with) meant run first and pass when needed. We converted 42% of 3rd downs and 100% of 4th downs; we had 0 INTs; we completed over 70% of our passes for 174 yards. How was Chad responsible for needing that last drive?
He was responsible for leading the winning drive and had a lot of help (Camarillo, Ginn, etc.).
That said - I agree with you 100% that we don't know if Henne couldn't have done the same or better.

Being tough as nails doesn't mean you don't get injured. Everyone gets injured in the NFL. Chad played behind one of the worst OLs in the NFL in NY and took a lot of hits. It's playing through those injuries as Chad did when he played nearly an entire year with a torn rotor cuff leading the JETS to the playoffs that makes you "Tough as nails".
Remember the linebacker who had his broken finger removed so that he could continue playing in a NFL game? I don't remember his name. He got injured - but that is Tough as Nails.

Pennington is a great QB. I'm glad that he is with the Dolphins. However, I think a LOT of the credit for this season has to go to Bill Parcells and Tony Sporano. They've changed the attitude of this team. I actually LIKE these close wins, it builds character. My nails don't look to good, and I want them to start exploding on offense, but these wins are definitely character builders.

Like Pennington or not, he is very good at controlling the clock with his smart decisions. We have won every game this year when we have won the battle for time of possesion. I would take that for the next 4 or 5 years. Smart quarterbacks win games and like it or not, right now, we have one of the smartest quarterbacks in the game.

I love those Henne lovers that think we would of won with him at the helm. For crying out loud he was the QB when his Wolverines got toasted by Appliachian State his senior year and how many times did he beat Ohio State...Enough said...

There will be many many who believe Henne can do better and the same way they say how do we know what he would have done if he played? I can ask the same thing, what would Henne have done? I dont want to find out right now, I like who we have, Penny have played very well, and for all those that kept saying he couldnt throw the long ball I havent heard that much since the games against Denver and Seattle. By the way the ball in the Seattle game was in the air 55 yds, so they can say what they want. The facts are our record is 6-4, Chad is third in the AFC overall and 7th in the entire league after 10 games. This is not a fluke, this is a good QB and to want Henne to play shows who knows what about football.
