people already bashing us for taking him...

At the end of the day Tannehill gets bashed because he played WR and not QB and because he needs time before he'll be ready to play. Aaron Rogers also needed time and it worked out fine for him. As for the WR part I've always felt that if a player is talented enough teams find a way to put them on the field. With Tannehill that was the case and they simply didn't have a hole at QB so they used his abilities to help at WR.

Whoever wrote this loses all credibility by inaccurately stating that: A)Miami whiffed on Flynn; and B)Tannehill will be thrown into action immediately. Complete idiot.

Seriously....get used to it guys. This is what the media does......they take a popular stance and no matter what we do we will still be losers. Bet you if the Pats had taken them it would have been a genius move. Media hates us move on

Then he should have never been picked at 8.

What a DUMB thought process...

If you think the guy will develop into a Top 5 QB, regardless if it will be this year or 3 years from now, you take him, PERIOD.

If people took your approach, they would miss out on QBs like Phil Rivers and Aaron Rodgers, who sat for several years, before becoming bonafide studs.

Rivers sat behind Drew Brees as he finally came alive, and Rivers sat behind Favre. Again, big difference.

No, its not. They sat because they WEREN'T READY!

You would be the guy that would bash the **** out of the FO if they drafted a lineman and Tannehill went on to become a Top 10 QB somewhere else a few years down the road. That much, I am positive of!

You people who insist that if a QB doesn't play immediately because he was a top 10 pick are ridiculous.

Even Dan mothereffin Marino was sitting behind a bunch of chumps to start his career.

Or, put it another way, QBs in the top 10 since 2004 who sat their whole first year:
Phillip Rivers
Jake Locker
Matt Leinart
JaMarcus Russell (moreso his own fault, but I'll put him here)

QBs who started in their first season:
Eli Manning
Ben Roethlisberger
Alex Smith
Vince Young
Matt Ryan
Matthew Stafford
Mark Sanchez
Sam Bradford
Cam Newton
Blaine Gabbert

As you can see, more often than not, a top-10-drafted QB starts a game in his rookie season. Those who sit have either been busts or the jury is still out (Rivers and Carson Palmer before him are the exceptions, but I'm picking 2004 as the line of demarcation because the rules that benefit the QB were put in place after the Patriots clutched and grabbed their way to a second Super Bowl). The jury may still be out on some of QBs who have started a game in their rookie seasons, but there's no doubting that A. most of them did have at least 1 start and B. you're more likely to hit on a QB that you can get to start in his rookie season than if you sit him, ESPECIALLY with the rules protecting the QB and receivers these days.

One chump, David Woodley. And arguably he could have started from Week 1, but Shula loved his veterans.

I wouldn't call David Woodley a chump. He did take the Dolphins to the Super Bowl the year before. Also, Marino was drafted in the 20's, not #8 overall.
