Perfect example of how awesome the logo looks when positioned correctly

Not sure I know alot of fellow dolphin fans around me hated logo also ! Now whether they stuck to their guns and not bought new merchandise after saying they hated i don't actually know! I just know that the new logo isnt for me! And looks like it may have grown on some on here who may have also hated it! I just kind of wish there was more fan input into something like this! It probably would be great as far as marketing merchandise such as hats ,and jerseys!

As someone else mentioned, the logo is an example of how this organization gets somethings wrong. Sure good idea, just poorly executed.

I was expecting a meaner logo. Darker more modern colors. The new teal looks weird.

Also I know someone said to stop referring it to Sea World, but that's exactly what it looks like.

it's probably a weird teal color, because it's not teal.

I think the difference between the dolphins and Dallas/Green Bay, etc is that they haven't had 15 straight years of mediocrity. With only 1 playoff appearance that was one and done.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the old logo, but I'm not opposed to change. And I quite like this new logo.
Well Green Bay did have extended mediocrity, but I guess Dallas has alway bounced back before too long. Regardless, once they have 2 or 3 good years back to back, people associate the logo with winning again.

It's all about winning. Lose and all the logos get a stigma. Win and they all seem classic.

If you like the current logo, here is hoping you love the next one. I get a feeling the current one will not last past Ross owning the team. Not sure how much longer that will be ... but I'd guess less than 10 years.

I think the shortest time is like 5 years until we can change it again, so sometime between 2018 and 2023 would be my guess.

The best logos are simple, not busy...

These iconic logos are hardly busy, and look great on just about anything:

The reason these logos are considered classic and work so well is mostly in their simplicity. A logo is a symbol, not a cartoon character.

I agree with you but the Dolphin Stadium logo to me isn't defined enough. It's a little hard to really tell what it is. This logo should've stayed as it was:

Of the Dolphin logos, this is probably still the best one. Unfortunately it doesn't look quite right in the modern NFL because of the lack of definition in the detail. But when you try to clean it up, it ends up looking like the goofy 97 logo, so it's a bit of a conundrum to design a modern dolphin logo.

I've said it from the moment that they revealed it, the new logo is flat out garbage.

Have not bought anything with it and I won't either. Shame if we ever go/win the Super Bowl with it because I wouldn't buy anything with that thing on it.

Uniform and colors are fine though, but that logo is not.

New logo is sleek, modern, and refreshing. I refuse to buy anything with the old Disneyland logo. It's always sad to see people still sporting it.

I'd be fine with the logo I posted. I'm also fine with the current one. I'd prefer winning to be the top priority as it is.

Meanwhile, you seem to have the old logo in your avatar.

The new logo wouldn't work in your avatar, just like it doesn't work in so many applications. It would be staring blankly into space instead of enjoying the great view of Pamela and Heather's chests.

There are a handful of NFL franchises whose logo stands above the rest, whether we like it or want to acknowledge it. If Dallas or Green Bay or Pittsburgh or Chicago or the Chiefs or the Colts tried to buckle to Nike and change their logos, there would be uproar and outrage and disbelief. Those are classic simple designs, ideal for a logo as SkapePhin pointed out. Unfortunately a dolphin doesn't lend itself to such simplicity. IMO the early designer in the mid '60s did very well with what he had to work with. The curvature of the dolphin toward the front of the helmet was ideal. The size was ideal. The logo looked good regardless of where you placed it. As a kid I never heard any complaints. We were proud of our logo. Not until 10 or 15 years ago did I hear murmurs, people nitpicking the minor aspects like the sun or the helmet with the M. I never even looked at those things. The overall presentation was very good and that's what matters.

Besides, there's so much danger if not certainty that the modern designers will screw it up. And that's what happened. The straight line shape doesn't work. From a distance it looks like a spear or spit of toothpaste. There's a reason virtually every logo conforms to the shape of the helmet. Mike Dee didn't know or didn't care. I bet on didn't know. He's exactly the type who would overlook something basic like that. So our logo arches toward the sky.

It's comical that an apologist thread is begging us to accept and appreciate the logo, based on how it looks when "positioned properly." Wonderful, we're relying on another adjustment. If they nailed the change we wouldn't need adjustments and there wouldn't be defensive threads like this, telling people how to think. I'm one of the ones who doesn't appreciate the new logo and certainly will never buy anything sporting that logo. When you make a change for the sake of change alone you are risking varied opinions. I've made my choice, just like I've handicapped the stadium and our decision to patch it.

Unfortunately the Dolphins fall just below the level of franchise that has been around for many decades with a beloved simple logo that basically can't be changed. The 49ers fall into that category also. They tried to butcher the logo more than 20 years ago. The outcry was loud enough that the franchise was embarrassed and quickly retreated. I'm sure the same thing would have happened if the Dolphins had unveiled this logo in the early '90s. By 20 years later the young crowd had exponentially greater influence, and we've seen so many bizarre logo and uniform changes that have somehow been accepted. The timing allowed a poor logo and we found one. Talk about dreadful timing. If we started the process from scratch right now with Mike Dee gone I'd like to bet the final product would have been different and at least somewhat superior.

I can't stand the new logo because to me it kind of reminds me of a jet flying with sun in the background! And I hate the. jets! It just doesn't look right!

I totally respect your opinion. Thing is your going from 'Disney World' to a few miles up I-4 and you're parking in 'Sea World' so its not that much a difference if that's the case.

I don't care for the new logo or the new colors. I much more preferred the early 80's look the best.
