Agreed. Which is why I like the idea of an "M" and a starburst. In my mind the M is relatively large and hanging partly out of the starburst. I'm not going to subject anyone to my pitiful photoshop skills but that's how I picture it.

These iconic logos are hardly busy, and look great on just about anything:
The reason these logos are considered classic and work so well is mostly in their simplicity. A logo is a symbol, not a cartoon character.
One reason I picked the Dolphins was because I actually liked the Dolphins on the helmets instead of some stupid letter or something like that when I was a kid growing up! I could have easily picked the Bears ! Since growing up I lived in Iowa and Illinois! But I chose the better looking logo and state I was born in to be my team!
The fashion sensibilities of children are notoriously... childlike.

Maybe, but wouldn't that same logic hold true for the old logo? We may have associated the old logo with Shula, the undefeated season, Csonka and Griese. But didn't it also have a tweak we associated with the Dan Marino Era without an entirely new logo?
The Dallas star was indicative of the Roger Staubach era too ... but when Jimmy Johnson created a dynasty he didn't need a new logo. That same Dallas star gained new tradition with multiple Super Bowls and hat worked just fine.
The Green Bay G was certainly associated with Lombardi and his iconic players like Starr and Nitschke, but when the team led by Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews won the Super Bowl, it gained new tradition.
IMHO, logos never suffer from past memories. It's current mediocrity that is preventing them from being seen in th best light.
Personally, I support the Miami Dolphins and the logo/uniform changes aren't going to affect that or he team. In fact ... I'm hoping it gets changes again .... as soon as possible ... to something that looks far less timid, bland and corporate. The old logo might not have been the absolute best, but I liked it.

I think the difference between the dolphins and Dallas/Green Bay, etc is that they haven't had 15 straight years of mediocrity. With only 1 playoff appearance that was one and done.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the old logo, but I'm not opposed to change. And I quite like this new logo.

I guess Dan Marino is a liar too then. I'm sure Dee didn't put a gun to Marino's head and tell him he had to tweet about the logo. He didn't have to say anything if he didn't like it. Not lie about it.

The new logo looks much better as a car tag than the old one. I couldn't put the old logo on my White car BMW withtinted windows because it was too cartoony and would take away from the car. This new logo would look great as a tag just like the heat and new marlins logo and colors... too bad the DMV don't have the new logo yet...

The new logo isn't fit for my car ! That's how much of a downgrade this new logo is! It simply looks terrible ! And I will not buy any further merchandise with the new logo ! Which is why if they want to make sales they should continue to use old logos on hats etc!
I wonder if there's a way to compare merchandise sales in the last year of the previous logo, compared to the new one. NFL/teams probably only have that info eh?
I'd be willing to bet the new stuff has increased profits at this point, since many people updated their stuff, but I'd like to see a change in 2018.
