Perfect example of how awesome the logo looks when positioned correctly

You do not think the new logo looks amateurish? It looks like a beached whale. Like they went a design studio in NY and got it from a grad from the High School for the Arts.

No. Not a whale. The dimensions of the logo you like, which I also don't mind, are almost similar to the current one. If anything it's the coloring on the underbelly of the logo that throws you off into thinking it looks like a whale.

buttonwood's post was not exactly delivered with much subtlety but he's right on. The logo is weak, and who's exactly going to tell me that stuff like the TPain fight song and the orange carpet (not to mention Gator Day) make them do anything but cringe. It's one mistake after another with this group, and it's not an accident that they keep coming.

One thing that's also right, however, is that the old logo wasn't that good, either. At this point I'm convinced that you can't really do all that much with a dolphin. It's just not an interesting looking animal. If it was up to me I'd keep the "sunburst" and go to a simple "M" inside it, more like the Bears or 49ers (or Giants or Packers) helmet. Also the aqua needs to be more blue.

Anyway, yep... another logo/uniform thread. But hey, let's look on the bright side. At least we're not the Jags. They went and took one of the best uniforms in the league and turned it into the absolute worst.

That's the beauty of an opinion. You want an M inside the sun as a logo over anything else and I think that's a horrendous idea. Cheers :)

Up close, it looks pretty good even with the awkward pose. I like the new face of the dolphin, but the overall shape of the dolphin is where it fails. The shape just doesn't read well on a helmet or at small sizes.

If it were in a more symmetrical position it would work much better.

Overall, I agree with Walrus though. A Dolphin is a pretty crummy mascot for a football team and there aren't many ways to base a logo from it without it looking goofy.

A big M within a sunburst would be an improvement over any of our past or present logos.

I still think the old dolphin stadium logo would have been the best. It strips the dolphin shape to its bare elements and looks sleek, modern and still appropriate for a football team.

Are you suggesting that the logo looks better the farther away one is?

The idea for the logo was submitted by the fan base of the mid 60's. The Dolphin represented Flipper(the popular TV show at the time), the tropical environment and ocean which is a big part of south Florida.
The Dolphin is a mammal that is fast, sleek, graceful, intelligent, yet can kill a shark if the need arises.
It seemed like a good fit for south Florida at the time.
If someone could come up with a flesh eating Zombie logo, the Fins should make a change for all the younger fans who cannot relate.
We can call them the Miami Zombies. As a Zom fan, we could decimate and wreck havoc...:troll:

Choosing between a new logo Phin hat and a STL Cardinals baseball hat, and their was no real choice. Tradition, good or bad has value.

If I was to find 80s style Phin gear, I'd buy it. But is rarely available.

Not saying I'm in love with the new logo although I have no problem with it but that stadium logo sucks. To retro, and zero personality.

The thing is, the traditional logo represented what happened 30-40 years ago. Sure, the Marino era was great, but even the hayday of Marino was mid 80s-mid 90's. We are looking at almost 20 years of mediocrity. Not a tradition I want to be associated with. If this team can start winning, then the new logo will also become it's own tradition.

the new logo is bland and lifeless, just an awful update or alleged upgrade to what was already the best logo in the nfl.

all you need to know is that DEE LIED about marino loving it and marino is on video saying he likes the old one much better...

The new logo sucks...

Do you have a link to that video? Because I'm staring at Dan Marino's twitter feed saying he approves of the logo.
