Perkins - Dolphins have bigger problems than Tannehill

Yea, the run D is a huge problem.......

When Tannehill leaves them on the field all day.

Let's blame the D for giving us 2 points directly, setting us up for an easy TD(our only one of course) and holding the opponent under 20 till late in the 4th qtr, only to finally collapse from having been on the field most of the game while trying to keep every opponent under 17 points. :rolleyes2:

Ho0w does the defense get this much blame??

The whole time watching that game I kept telling my friend..They cannot keep getting stops and us getting nothing out of it. they will break soon
They go a safety to get it to a 1 score game, a fumble inside the opponent 20, and numerous stops. the offense couldn't do anything with the ball at midfield on 2nd and 1!

The offensive line is still a work in progress, the WRs can't catch a cold, the RBs suck since Moreno went down and they got rid of Bush, and the QB isn't accurate with any of his passes. I blame the whole Offensive unit for the problems not the Defense, even though some of the blame is to shift to the D when they can't even stop a 2nd string RB and a rookie WR. #FirePhilbinWatch2014

While I don't think they played particularly well Sunday, I do agree with the overall thought that you have. I've said it for the last two years. This defense was built to play from ahead. The strong point is defensive line and rushing the passer. They can't do that when they're down 21-15 in the fourth and have been ground to a rub. See the second half of the Pats game as to the design of the defense.

So the logic is we can't critique our Qb unless he is the#1 problem? This would basically mean we can only complain about 1 component of the team at a time.

I think Perkins is right. I also think that the fact that RT's play is more pivotal for the team moving forward than other of those other areas, though, so finding out what he's struggling has the greatest importance.

You can more easily replace an outside linebacker or come up with a gunner on your punt coverage than draft a quarterback with above-average potential.

This team has many problems, but you need to figure out what's going on with Tannehill even if he isn't at the top of the list of why this team isn't performing.

Tannehill isn't the only problem..... but he is the biggest problem.

Tannehill's last season is 2014..... nailed it.

I don't think anyone is saying this is all on Tannehill. Dumb.

But, he's part of the problem which starts at the top .... Philbin

Ryan Tannehill isn't the ONLY problem…but IMO he is the biggest issue. The defense is decent but you can't expect them to force 3 and outs all day…however they are not playing well overall. Special Teams is a huge issue…huge. We got guys catching the ball on the one yard line and we give them a 50yd punt return…we did it like 2-3 times just got bailed out by penalties.

As for the QB, like it or not its a QB driven league. This team is not good enough to mask poor play by the QB. In fact, good QBs mask the deficiencies of the team around them. It all starts with him. Its been frustrating to watch because he was showing some real steps in the right direction last year until the last two games. If he would have continued to build on that, or hell even play at the level he did last year instead of regressing we would be 3-0 right now. It is what it is…he has to be better or he won't be starting much longer.

This team may have more issues than just Tannehill but until we can get the engine started its impossible to say how the rest of the car feels on the road.

Although the majority of the problems are on the offensive side and within the coaching staff, absolving the defense of any accountability is ridiculous. The defense was still fresh when they allowed Smith to scramble for 14 on a 3d and 8. All to often the defense has alowed 3d and long situations to be converted. Puting Cam Wake on Kelce in coverage resulting in a TD was a brainfart on Coyle's part. Missed tackles on Knight's 21 yard run is noting new either. Our run defense has been garbage and missed tackles are a huge part of this problem.
