Personal Story: Preparing for Sunday's Game w/ an Impending Ice Storm

You should check into the Hot Dish. Its a heater for directv satellites that melts the ice and snow off of them. I'd recommend it to anyone living in a cold/snowy climate. I bought one a few years ago and haven't had a problem since no matter how much snow or freezing rain.

I just this week heard about it. Most def. will.

Watch the game be a mess for the Fins as I risk life, limb and wallet to see this thing.

Shoes, came through. I guess I had this Sunday Max all along. Glad I knew what I was paying for.

It's a nasty one, just came through the midwest yesterday and today. Trees are down everywhere, it's a nightmare. Thank you for your dedication.

I didn't see nothing about ice. 50 something and 10% chance of rain going to 30% by 4 o clock. I've have seen so many weather reports that I don't know what to think.

Now that's what I call dedication. Seems to me like you've thought of everything. Best of luck catching the game.

I figured some of you guys would appreciate this...

Where I live here in Maine, there is an impending ice storm on the way for Sunday. I refuse to miss Fins games under any conditions. Whether they are preseason or regular season games, I will miss family gatherings, cancel appointments or call in sick in order to not to miss a Dolphins game. I have not missed a football Sunday since I was in college.

That brings me to this weekend. Weather can always threaten a football Sunday. There is about .50 inches of predicted ice on the way. It starts Sunday morning and it goes through the afternoon to about 5pm.

I have taken all of the following precautions so not to miss the Dolphins/Bills game:

I have two de-icing products for the dish. One shoots further, but the other can still hit the dish, but "prevents" re-freezing. I am going to climb out my man room window, on to the porch....in an ice storm mind you...and spray that thing so not to lose reception.

If my dish does become incapacitated, I then have to go to my Field Pass subscription. While I cannot stand him, I might have to go to the Jimmy Cefalo call.

If we lose power, I have three, count them, three laptops charged plus an iPad ready to go along with a charged cell phone, mobile Hot Spot to attempt to listen to the game.

If the cell runs out of juice, the car has a full tank of gas in which I can charge the phone while the hot spot works, while giving me the juice for the radio broadcast.

If none of that stuff works, I will go into work where there is an emergency generator that I could see the local game (Texans and Broncos) and listen to Cefalo.

You can accuse me of a lot of things, but not being dedicated to the Dolphins is not one of them.

It won't be cold enough. It's going to be in the mid 50s tomorrow and bills and fins play at 1pm. So it will be a rainy game, not freezing rain or ice.

Uh Oh, I just saw were are in for afternoon thunderstorms. The generator is on standby as well as the laptop and iPad. #Karma

Dude...this post is about where I live not about the actual game.

Haha this made my night. I pray you don't have to resort to those measures.

Ive only missed seeing one game in the last 20+ years....it was last Christmas when I was spending the holidays with my wife's family in Moss Point, Mississippi. ......they didnt have Directv and there were no sports bars with NFL package.....I threw a tantrum.

My wife's friend was looking at wedding dates. I suggested the summer in large part because there is no interference with Dolphins games. She said she liked the fall. I replied, "well, don't pick a date in the fall on a Sunday. She laughed and said, "yeah right"...

I was dead serious. My wife would go by herself. I will remember a Fins game a lot longer than someone's wedding.

I use to live in St.Stephen New Brunswick on the border with Calais. I remember those freezing rain days. Now I just have -50C days. There are many days I wish I lived in Miami. The weather is so awesome.
