Where is the reset button?
has enough impact to set the tone for the rest of the year BUT for the first time I think this is about as much of a "must win" game as you can get. No way that Ross, unless he is nothing but rhetoric, can take another loss in front of what little home crowd we have, especially in a similar fashion. I think if Miami were to get blown out at home again, it would be the last nail in the coffin for the current regime. Sure there is a metric crap ton of football left but we all know the playoff probability of teams starting 0-2. Not only that but that would be 2 losses in the AFC which really puts a damper on the tie breaking rules come the last few weeks of the season. Given our schedule, I think it could be the catalyst for a 5-11 season and finger pointing in the locker room and worse. So far Marshall has "put up" with a struggling young qb and 2 OC's since being here. Last year his frustration was evident on the field and regardless of the money, losing is often a huge catalyst for players with a hazy past to revert back to their disruptive ways. I just don't think that 7-10 catches for 150 yards is enough to keep Marshall happy when the "L's" are accumulating.
I also see this game a pivotal turning point potentially in the career of Chad Henne and his future in Miami. I know many of you are saying that it isn't Chad's fault for the New England debacle. Very true however, if Miami was to implode the F.O. and get a new coach, more than likely Henne once again will get the **** end of the stick and will not be here next year. For many that is what they wanted. Personally, another 3 years of rebuilding will suck and is just a continuation of the status quo since Wanny ran the team into the ground.
TS and JI wanted to prove this year that they could step out of the shadow of man boobs parcells and start to turn this team around. I don't care how much of a nice guy Sparano is and supposedly how much the players like to play for him. If they truly did, they would rally around their coach and his principles. Well this is your shot guys. I have listened to the media bad mouth this team all week on TV and Sirius but in retrospect much of what they are saying isn't all that unfounded. Even the question of the Miami fan base was raised. If you want to fix what ills the dolphins, it is time to go and give a reason for the season ticket holders to return to Joe Robbie Stadium.
Put up or shut up guys. This is your shot.
Disclaimer:
This isn't a tinfoil hat thread but rather another big time fan, such as many of you, that has seen Miami revel in lombardi mediocrity since I became a fan in the early 80's. As a fan, you can only be kicked so many times before apathy starts to set in.
