Yahoo Sports' Jason Cole reports that "people close" to Peyton Manning (neck surgeries) believe his career is over.
Two sources told Yahoo that the nerves in Manning's three-times surgically repaired neck are not just recovering slowly, they "don’t appear to be progressing at enough of a rate to indicate that he will play again." Manning has lost velocity on his passes, and the sources don't believe he'll regain it. Further, two NFL-affiliated doctors would recommend against the Colts paying Manning's $28 million roster bonus. It's believed Manning's rehab has "hit a plateau."

So now that this is what I believe is most likely going to happen we shift our mind to the only 2 other realistic possibilities: Flynn or RG3?

I say Flynn only because of the fact that we would have to highly overpay (Multiple 1st Rounders) to get RG3 and because Flynn has been under Philbin for the past 4 years. As of now I would say I'm about 80% sure that Flynn is going to be taking the snap from Pouncey week 1

THOUGHTS?

Same guy who claimed we had an upper hand on landing Fisher.

Everyone is speculating now, no one really knows jack.

People need to stop thinking we will get Manning. Sad to say but he is done.

We did.

And think its telling that doctors are now saying "it needs more time". At this point, retirement could be the only reasonable option for the guy. I just cant see him turning a corner and being able to play up to the level he used to, or even close to it.

In addition, two league-affiliated doctors with experience in spinal fusion surgery said it could take up to a year before Manning knows if he can return.

Fisher wasn't coming here.

And Cole is always guessing.

He doesn't know jack.

It's not just Cole reporting this. Numerous insiders have reported the same. Botom line is he won't be ready in 6 weeks when free agency starts meaning Peyton is not in the Dolphins future.

I will never ever listen to Jason Cole. Might be my most hated writer in sports. Sarcastic about everything and thinks he is a know-it-all.

He thought he scooped everyone with who Andrew Luck's agent would be and it turns out to not even be close.

Big fat loser is Jason Cole. Maybe he is right, but he has no inside scoop per usual.

I would say Philbin is the man most qualified to determine if Flynn is worth rolling the dice on....if not we have to target a QB high in the draft.

I agree with you...sign Flynn and draft Tannehill

I'd rather he does retire that having less than a 33% shot at him (SF, TN, NYJ, AZ plus at least us) and withstanding the agony of endless speculation about his health, or ending up buying a china doll who may well turn out to be a shell of himself.

What is he guessing about? He stated that people close to Peyton are saying that he's recovering extremely slow. So slow that they don't believe he'll recover quick enough to play again. Where is his guess?

I also love how you bring up that he said that Fisher was coming here and obviously he didn't, so we should never believe anything he reports from here on out. I'm not defending Cole, I have no opinion of him at all but please, name me one sports journalist that has never been wrong on a subject?

Waiting on the official word from Rob Lowe before I take any of these rumors serious.
