Peyton Manning Believed To Retire

Alright let shed some logic on this Manning sign/don't sign debate. If you presume you are going to sign Manning as your QB you must first coincide several things:

1) Flynn will not be available as a backup plan
2) Manning is healthy enough to play this season!
3) You are not trading up in the draft in order to have a shot a RGIII

Why would you coincide points 1 and 3 based off a 50/50 shot at best that number 2 is a true statement. You can not and are foolish to handcuff the most important position on the team to a 50/50 chance of a player regaining prominence, I don't care if that player is Peyton Manning. Manning's best play would be to file this season for retirement and focus on getting healthy, not only for his career but for his quality of life beyond 40 years old.

He isn't going to play football opening day in the NFL in 2012. He also shouldn't be worried about if he will play at all in 2012, what Peyton needs to worry about is the quality of his life for the rest of his life.

It is what it is and it's the only play here.

Mort was just on Mike and Mike. He said nobody knows for sure yet and Peyton has been throwing the ball like a mad man since December.

Honestly, I would love Peyton to be a Miami Dolphin, but only if he is healthy. As much as people like to hate on our OL, Jake-Incognito-Pouncey on the left side of the line is probably the best left side he has had since the Super Bowl. The Colts OL has been awful for a few years but Manning hides their weaknesses.

If he isn't healthy however, it's not worth thinking about.

There were 2 seperate reports that came out today reporting this same story about sources close to Peyton thinking he'll retire. One was Jason Cole and the other was Jeff McClane from Philly... Where there's smoke there's fire, Peyton may have been waiting for Eli to be done with his playoff run all this time to announce his retirement as to not take the thunder away from his brother like some have speculated.
This would certainly suck for us if he's too unhealthy to play but I hope we don't panic and send Matt Flynn a retirement package over 1 game. I'd much rather trade up for RG3 OR trade down into the low teens or 20s, nab another 2nd rounder and Weeden or Tannehill.

The fact that you state this with the certainty of "fact" is remarkably ironic.

The fact that Cole reported he was, is enough for me to deduce it.

If you want to know what is really going to happen and not a guess by a reporter, listen to Glazer.

Cole is a clown.

I am pretty sure Manning will still get $19 million if he is bought out or cut by the Colts, instead of the $28 million he would get if he is still on the roster after the first week of March. Manning will be a Hall of Famer whether he continues to play or retires, and he should be able to live comfortably on his millions. I am sure he wants to continue playing but when you have a neck injury, you have to think about the rest of your life. He also has newborn twins he probably would like to spend some more time with. I think he will retire.

Indeed. I remember when he reported that Adrian Peterson had a torn ACL, which was a bummer for me because I had him on my fantasy football team. Good thing you're right about this and that Cole had it wrong.
