Peyton Manning DID NOT break Dan Marino's single season TD record!

Nappy Roots said:
it means something to you?

so because Peyton threw 0 TDs in the last game...that means he will throw under 3 the next game? hilarous:rofl3:

What I am saying is that Dan Marino threw more touchdowns than any other QB in NFL history in one season. To dispute that is futile.

not to nitpick but...

I've heard about the pass interference rule changes, turnovers putting Indy in nice scoring position and Manning enjoying being a nice clean dome-boy. Here's another little tidbit though. For the record, I initially resisted posting this. lol
Since marino set the record, kickoffs have been pushed back 5 yards from the 35 to the 30. Drives now start a little closer to paydirt. not a huge difference but back then manning's td total likely would've been about 47 instead of 49.
Thanks for the memories, Dan

:)

Okay, now I feel just a little bit more pathetic than I already did.
I hope you people are happy.;)

yes, with you it is.

So...being the intellectual that we all know you are, because the "Powers that Be" say postseason doesn't count, you are saying with absolute certainty Peyton Manning threw more TD's than Dan Marino did in his best season?

i didn't say that. read my post. I said technically you are correct, but that is not how recordbooks are kept. they never have been kept that way, why change it now when it would be in your favor?

including postseason stats is NOT fair to players who's teams don't get to the postseason. Should we not count Ricky's 1800 yards in 2002 as the leader because other RBs passed him including their postseason yards?

its not equal opportunities, hence not equal playing field. The reverse could be true in your case - in '84 Marino went all the way... Peyton did not last year. Had Peyton gone to the SB, chances are he would have passed Marino's total with playoffs anyway. But he didn't, so how would that be fair?

like i said, technically you are correct, that NFL year Marino threw more. BUT the records do not count postseason, because that would make the playing field uneven.

That is why the recordbooks are so firm and final - everyone had 16 games, everyone had an equal chance to perform.
