PFF 2023 NFL offensive line rankings:

20. Miami Dolphins (Up 2)

I find this articles failure to include coaching improvements a bit of an issue.

This is the first year in some time that we will have the same coaching system in place for this offense. Our new HC will undoubtably improve in his play calling and clock control in his second year, and it is probable that with the same players on the OL, we will see more cohesive unit play. We have also improved our depth and position interchangeability for players on our OL.

The fact that we are about to field three QB's of significant ability should also be considered in determining how effective the OL's performance will be, if only for calls made at the LOS to offset good defenses.

I find it interesting that they make no mention about the potential effect of the improvement of our defense, due to our new DC and the addition of some good players. This should allow the offense to play more often. That would reduce the pressure on the offense to score each play, because we will likely have the ball more often.

Even with all the reasons I've alluded to that indicate we will have an improved offense; the article did show us moving up in offensive capability, which I will count as a positive.

Different year, same old BS! For a decade now we have been somewhere around here when everyone is healthy. The ISSUE IS AND HAS BEEN that once one or maybe 2 players go down, we drop to 33rd in the league (yes that is a joke to make a point). Hopefully Williams comes around soon, because this line is bad enough when just Armstead goes down.

That is the reality of things, you sugar coaters are delusional.

You aren't wrong, of course, but in the context of Oline coaching specifically, we have yet another new Oline coach.

No doubt conceptually things will be the same with Smith and McD, but it's still a new Oline coach.

At least it's a guy with a hell of a lot more NFL experience than last season. I always thought handing the job to a meh college Oline coach was very questionable in year one install of a completely different philosophy.

Love McD, but he should have known better on that choice. Perhaps none of his top choices were available, but there must have been someone with a better resume out there

LT Terron Armstead (77.6)
LG Liam Eichenberg (39.8)
C Connor Williams (78.5)
RG Robert Hunt (72.3)
RT Austin Jackson (57.9)

- Can Butch Barry unlock Eichenberg and Jackson?
- Will Wynn make a push to start or serve as Swing T?
- Does Miami resign Williams and Hunt?
- Can Armstead limit unavailability to 2-games?
- Will Hayes develop or spend year on PS?

But who is going to leave the sticky notes in lockers if MM went else where.

Lol, I agree overall. Time will tell with Smith.

I mean we all read the reports, and read how they celebrated his firing. But that doesn't mean he was a bad coach.
There oline was definitely better then ours if I'm not mistaken

We shall see

To me this is all on coaching. Some players were asked to do things they clearly can't and were left exposed. It's not as if Eich and Jackson have no talent. They were high draft picks for a reason and would have been picked up soon after by another team if we didn't take them. Not all players have all the tools in their bag right out of college. If you coach them as if they do you're setting them up for failure. And don't get me started with the previous regimes coaching of "let the defense hit you first".

Hopefully this year coaching schemes properly for the talent the Fins have on the OL versus what they hope can happen.

Armstead, Williams, and Hunt are all very good players and make up the foundation. Armstead's health is the biggest factor for this group.

I still have hope for Austin Jackson, he still very young at 23. (24 in August) It looks like he put in some serious work this offseason, and another year with Armstead should pay off.

IMO Eichenberg is looking like a backup more than a legit starter at LG. He looked downright awful at times. I think Robert Jones or Dan Feeney can win that LG spot and provide us with more consistency.

Not Smith. He was our OC last year.

It was reported that Smith ended up having to do the Oline coach's job, thus the new hire.

No surprises there. Eichenberg got thrown around like a ragdoll last year. Spent way to much time on the ground , and doesn't seem to anchor down well. Maybe it's technique, but it appears he lacks natural strength in his lower body.
