PFF Grades on 3rd preseason game

I'd take PFF more seriously if they named the people doing the grading, and their qualifications.

I still don't understand how there's enough time for their staff to review all the plays and players, not mention knowing what the play is they're actually looking at in order to assess the responsibilities appropriately.

The most clear cut example of that would be with QB's and receivers. The QB throws a pick against the blitz but say the receiver was supposed to sight adjust and convert his route into a slant or an out. They would downgrade the QB. I doubt anyone at PFF knows what a sight adjustment is.

Defensive grades are the easiest. It's not hard to know responsibilities, when there are only so many coverages. Blocking schemes aren't that hard to decipher, if you know what your looking for.

The funniest thing is they claim Brady isn't an elite QB. But no one in the NFL runs more sight adjustments and option routes than the New England Partiots. And considering all the new receivers, and Brady's mastery of the system, it wasn't his fault. It was on the receivers not converting their routes properly. But yet the people that work there think they invented football. When in reality, I doubt one staff member even played college football. If they were to add ex coaches, scouts, gms, personnel people, than the site would be much better. It's a great idea but they don't know what they are really talking about. I should just steal their idea and hire people that actually know football and pay NFL.com for the same film that they pay for.

Shelly Smith played very good no matter what the stats say especially on the running plays. Big difference with him in the lineup.

I like PFF as much as anyone, but after watching the game twice and replaying dozens of Miami's offensive plays to focus on the interior OL, there is no way in hell that Smith deserved that crappy grade they gave him.
