PFF is garbage. It doesnt matter what they rank us, we are giving up the 20th most points in the league on defense. Thats the most important stat.
couldn't agree more. I hate PFF.

Ya know D13, these attacks on PFF, with little knowledge of what they do, are becoming increasingly boring. JMO
no way i'm buying that...no way i'm buying 62 safeties are playing better ball than reshad jones or 32 ilbs better than ellerbe...and starks the #5 dt i'm not buying that either...
#4 overall defense and can't stop thad lewis lead o...nope on that one to
They have our D at #4 overall.
Again, this is based on individual play, and not stats like yardage, points, etc.
Well, 20th in points given up has to account for all the fumbles Tannehill has had that put teams in a situation to score.
I wouldn't put us at 4th, but I wouldn't put us at 20, either. I'd say we're somewhere between 10th-15th best D and the D has been good enough to have us posting a 4-2 or even 5-1 record (Ravens game is tough to judge due to the terrible PI calls on our D and the O falling short at the end).

They have our D at #4 overall. The breakdown is #14 vs the run, #3 in pass rush, #11 in coverage, and #8 in penalties. This is based on their eyeball test on each players individual play, and then combined. CB's are included vs the run, DE's in coverage, etc.
Individual Ranks Overall
4-3 DE- Wake #13, Shelby #27, OV #38. Jordan does not have enough snaps.
DT/NT- Starks #5, Odrick #9, Soliai #11
4-3 OLB- Wheeler #19, Misi #23
ILB- Ellerbe #33
CB- Grimes #11, Carroll #27, Wilson #57
S- Clemons #29, Jones #63
Again, this is based on individual play, and not stats like yardage, points, etc.
Agree or Disagree?
PFF ranks were at 25% of snaps. If I go to 50%, Jones is at #43. He's at #28 vs the run, and #52 in coverage. Clemons is #6 in cover, and #50 vs the run.
Ellerbe would move to #23, being average except for bad vs the run with 7 missed tackles.

why are they ranking at 25 percent of snaps??? i don't get that...not sure what that means either...why 50 percent??? why not 100 percent??? they play every down...some of em do at least
see clemons at #6 is in coverage is crazy...just cause he doesn't get put in one on one opportunities schematically very often doesn't mean he's not awful when he does...the indy game red flagged that...if luck had more time on the fleener cross clemons face one on one that was an easy 6...

Im sorry you feel that way. Everything I have heard from PFF, everything that you and Shoutright post regarding stats, is ridiculous. You started the thread. You think we have the number 4th overall defense. Its a fact that we are the 20th rated scoring defense in the NFL. So you post PFF "thinks" we are the #4 defense, I post factually we are the #20th rated defense, you that bores you? Well, sorry to hear that but but every stat I have read from PFF thus far is ridiculous, none moreso than this one however

dolpns13, You make a good point on #20 in points allowed but, one post is just laughing, and the point is with calling PFF garbage. To me, that's not based on knowledge. Their eyeball method of grading and rankings is different, and a bit of what you see posted is nowhere remotely near what the site offers.
Something a bit similar. After the Bills game, I asked a friend to visit this forum, thinking he would enjoy it. He e-mailed me back on Monday that the forum SUCKED. He had looked at the thread titles to see the season over, replacing the coaches, replacing RT, etc, and he did not in any way want to learn anymore of Finheaven.
He was wrong, took a second look, and is reading every day. Don't know if you see the comparison but, I do.
