PFF Has Dolphins D At #4

Sorry, I should have clarified this. When you click on positions, they go to players who were in for 25% of the teams snaps for the rankings. You can change that to 50, 60, or 70% to see only starters or All to include every player who has played a snap.

i would think at least 50 percent would be closer to a more realistic number...i guess that means that dion jordan hasn't even played in 25 percent of snaps since he doesn't register...damn coyle you got to up that

25 percent of snaps falls more in line with package players...guys that are on the field specifically for one purpose...easier to figure out that they have serious weaknesses that must be hidden

True, the 25% does not come into play much with top 20 rankings of players because of how they grade but, it does when you drop down.

With all due respect, PFF finding Miami 4th is the poster-child for the limitations and inadequcies of the PFF system. PFF is a flawed subjective system and this stat illustrates it.

Sorry, I dont see the comparison.

The tidbits of info posted here are less than 1% of the overall info supplied by the pay per view site. IF you had access to all the info, I seriously doubt that you would be calling it garbage. This is why so many in the media, etc use it.

That would depend if you understood what and how they are ranking. They are using eyeballs over blind stats alone.

The defense couldn't come up with a play and stop Thadeus Journeyman at home that is unacceptable and just plain pathetic! And no online matrix is going to make me feel better about that!

Same here. The rankings show that we have a lot of individual talent but, it's not yet clicking as a team.

To be clear, I know exactly how they do it. And it's flawed. Nothing in my post suggested I don't know how they do it.

Ted from Italy nailed it.. you can't infer a collective rank based on individual components... so I don't know how close to reality this tier of ratings come. I do know that there's such a thing as "synnergy" where the whole is greater than its individual parts and that effective coaching putting players in the proper coverages and alignments is more than minimally importance...so who really knows.

Given the above, if even within a 5-10% standard deviation (did I really ****ing say that???), I find the Ellerbe rating surprising based on the eye test and Jones rating downright depressing.

Because our defense is not that good or even close. Look at the individual ratings on the oline from PFF but yet use your own eyes to see how bad the line is.
If Martin is doing as good as PFF why is he being moved from LT and being replaced by a guy that was benched in Baltimore for bad play.

Dlocks, it would appear that your vacation from the forum has somewhat diminished your FB IQ, as done in real life. Don't worry, it will come back. :)

Our D is not that good because of PFF's individual OL ratings, and Martin??? Just keep posting. As I said it will come back to you. :)

and why is it that these peoples eyeballs are any better than hoops, or any other dolphin fan, or hell even my own eyes?

I do not believe there would be much of any, as I have posted, IF a number of posters here spent the up to 10 hours to grade a Dolphins game (including yourself), and do the same for the other 31 NFL teams to rank them. We do not, and they do. That is the difference.

Jerry is playing around 60 plays a game. How many have you or anyone watched closely? How many from all of our other players, including ST's? Be honest?

Then consider the other 31 teams at each position and each play to compare before ranking our players.
