PFF On QB's Cap Value

that's clearly not true.

What?!?

His overhyped ass didn't get paid?

... And, yes, you most certainly ARE baiting in this thread. Knock it the hell off for once. I'm getting real tired of your act.

yeah the cap hit for the value he presents is flat stealing...he'll get his franchise level money extension within the next 2 years...

minimum $70 million

Well if you are talking about a 5 year deal worth 70 million that would put Tannehill making 14 million per year. That's more than Tom Brady and Aaron Rogers.......and that's the minimum Tannehill will get? I don't see how

Tannehill will get a 10-15 million per year contract in 2 years at the very least.

5 years $70 mil minimum...and he likely after that will get an extension in 4 years for max money...cause teams that have qbs are proactive retaining them...especially ones who are top level like i see being the case by then

brady gave the pats a serious discount...rodgers was retained or extended before he hit his current lofty level...proactive front office only reason he's that cheap...he'd be a $22 mil per year guy if he was set to be free right now...top money guy

wouldn't surprise me in the least if after 2014 miami extends tannehill...that way they can get what would be like a aaron rodgers discount being proactive...i know people say well he's not aaron rodgers level and i say that you are correct but what needs to be added is the word...yet

miami would be smart to lock that qb up before the price gets even higher...not right now obviously but after 2014 i would be proactive about it

Well for one thing you are going on your assumption that Tannehill will greatly improve and become the guy. I'm not saying he can't or won't but either way it's an assumption. It is possible that Tannehill won't even finish the season as a starter this coming year. I hope that is not the case but it is certainly not out of the realm of possibility. So for you to say that the minimum contract Tannehill will get will be 70mil over 5 years and getting paid more than Brady and Rogers is nuts. Straight out of Homerville USA....haha

i dont think you understand the qb market if i'm being honest...keep in mind that colin kaepernick is said to be looking in the $18 mil per year on an extension with san fran and he's nowhere close to top 5 qb...

if tannehill was a free agent right now off 2 years alone he'd command at least $8 mil per year...easy...that would be a bargain even in the grand scheme of things for miami...right now...and he is making strides...don't let anyone tell you any different...the players not only going up so is the price

you can call it an assumption all you want i go by what i see and what i know of the league qb value and of our qbs play...and it's worth way way more than he's paid right now...and only going up...

Aaron Rodgers is currently in the middle of a 7year $130 million contract. Tom Brady is in the middles of a 5 year $60 million contract, but the sticker there is that it is fully guaranteed, meaning he will still be making $12 million per year when he is 41 ears old.

I don't think a 5 year $70 million contract is that far off for a starting QB that a team is committing long term to.

That's fair. I thought PFF put his improvement very well in saying that RT's bad games in 2013 were better than his bad games in 2012. Fixing the weakest links is paramount to a QB taking the next step forward, which I believe he will do.

he obviously improved, no doubt about that. My issue is some folks acting like he was really good and that he is a guarantee to be great. I think he can be good/very good, still plenty of work to do though.

Let me be clear. I'm not saying he can't or won't get a deal like that......but acting like that is the MINIMUM for Tannehill is crazy.

i bet you would say the same thing about kaepernick in the 5 year $90 mil range...which is what's being tossed about...and point blank is CRAZY

but i bet he in the end still gets at least 5 years and $70 million...glad i'm not the 9ers on that contract

Nobody is talking absolutes. Its all contingent upon Tannehill continuing his upward trajectory, which appears likely to continue. What is so crazy about projecting that contract number?

I understand it just fine. For the record I have agreed with everything you have said so far other than that one sentence. I just don't feel it's fair to say that. Had you said " I think Tannehill will end up getting a contract of 70mil over 5 years " then I would not have said anything. Using the word Minimum makes it sound like it is a lock to happen....and it's by no means a lock

you just don't see the qb in the same light as i do so for you it doesn't add up...fair enough

we will see...i know where to find you... lock me up for if we wait 2 years at minimum 5 years $70 mil...i'm sure you will knock me if it's 5 and say 65 but that's a chance i will take...if they do it after next year might be able to work out something a little cheaper...players are usually cheaper when teams are proactive with them and show them love when they don't have to

could see a 7 year contract as well...i'm dead serious

Remember that the cap is escalating because of the increased TV revenue by 40%, and we are likely talking 2 years from now. By then chances are that $70M will be cheap.
