PFT: Browns not pursuing Matt Flynn

No one is pursuing Flynn right now. The very reason Green Bay didn't tag him and try to trade him, he has no market. As long as the perception out there is Philbin doesn't want him, he won't get a big contract...and that's the perception. Even Seattle is bringing in Chad Henne over Flynn. Miami has all their chips in the Peyton Manning deal...which according to reports we've been eliminated but I think until Ross hears it from Manning himself he won't believe it.

I just hope we sign Eric Winston today.
 
Well we can probably get him cheaper. Personnally I don't see much of a difference between he and Matt Moore.

I think he will be too expensive. It will be cheaper to draft a RT. We need to put the money in skill positions.

He's another AJ Feeley and we already have Moore.

I dont want him either but where do you get he is another AJ Feeley? Outside of our HC who in the NFL or on this board really knows his ceiling?

If true, and Philbin likes him, this is good news. His contract value is declining per day.

Winston was making $4.9 million last year. He can be had for a fair price, skill positions are more expensive.

I will go with Philbin on on this one. What are your credentials. How many of his practices have you seen. Unbelievable.

If Philbin wants Flynn doesn't mean Flynn is the greatest or anything. Could just mean we need a qb whether backup or starter and he knows Flynn. We know Flynn is ok but being a starter has to b proven with consistency on the field not cause u are familiar with the guy.
 
Flynn is the most ready to execute Philbin's offense from day #1.
If we want to win right away outside of Manning he is the best option.
We won't know about his "ceiling" until a year or two from now.

It took Schaub a couple of years to really define his value.
If Philbin thinks Flynn is starter material then we must trust him.
