PFT: Ricky Looks Good

He is fast thats a fact, but seriously if he is 215 he's hiding it somewhere. His legs used to stand out big time, and now, well, he is skinny. Sam Madison looked bigger. Maybe it was his clothes being extra baggy?

Those legs are missing about 20 pounds of lean muscle from what you're use to seeing. I believe makes a huge difference. From what it sounds like, it sounds (and looks) like the missing muscle mass compared to his 230 pound frame lies almost entirely on his legs, which he'll really need to beef back up to get back to where he needs to be.

Maybe thats why Saban said he's got a long way to go on the conditioning...but like he said, he also has about 2 or 3 months to get there.

In the pic with McKinney another player is patting Ricky on the head, which is a good sign of the players accepting him.

Oh it's most definitely in his legs. His arms look nearly the same, but his chest is not. As much as I cant stand him in uniform, I won't lie on him. I'm sure he can gain it back. It's much easier for someone to get to where he once was, than for someone who has never been, trying to put on 30.

Exactly. Plus, he doesn't need to put on 30. Saban only wants him to put on 10, though my personal feeling is that should be more like 15 to 20 so that he can take more redzone carries than Ronnie Brown (why beat up Ronnie in the redzone when we can beat up Ricky?).

Incidentally, I can see that you really hate Ricky being back. Understandable. But, keeping in mind that Ricky running like Ricky, and Ronnie being what he is, gives us the best backfield tandem the NFL has seen in quite a while, should make any of us salivate. Also, Saban has made this not about any one player anymore. If anything, it's about Saban. The players trust in Saban, and need to do their jobs. Ricky can't hurt us anymore. He can only help us.

And that's how I'm taking it, it's like we got another FA to help this team. I'm not mad at Ricky, I was disappointed, but I realize even Ricky couldn't have help last year's team...The O was going through rebuilding period, and they needed to.

Yeah we were doomed last year Ricky or no Ricky. Dave Joseph pointed out, had Ricky helped us get 4 more wins last year, we may still be suffering through Dave Wannstedt.

Anyway, the only thing to question is the timing of his retirement. It was his choice to quit football. I just wish he had done it much earlier, as did a lot of teammates.

Can't nail the guy to a cross forever.

you can gain ten pounds in two months no problem, he cant play until october, lots of time baby, then we unleash them both on the AFC EAST, come on bills, pats and jets got to tackle some big fast guys now

You know it just occured to me that more than one coach looked at Auburn's situation last season with Caddilac and Ronnie with jealous eyes. Jon Gruden has the same thing in mind, except where Saban is substituting Ricky Williams (the low 220's version) for Caddilac Williams, Gruden is substituting Michael Pittman for Ronnie Brown.

i think about that a lot, wondering if wanny would still be around if the team had gone 9-7 or something. i'm pretty happy where the team is right now, and ricky's "retirement" is one of the biggest reasons for the turnaround.

I think we have the better system to do that, but the wco O can incorporate some of that in Grudens system with some minor tweats. It's a throw back to the 70's Dolphin, you can't have selfish players to pull it off. As it's been noted, Ricky has more 100 yards games than any Miami RB in a less games played..His contract is filled with incentives based on production. The only problem I see is can Ricky make his contract work in it's present structure by sharing carries..I think not..his base salary has always been the league's minimum plus the incentives he's earn each year...does this kind of use in this O, eliminate his ability to earn those incentives...I say yes, thus, his contract will have to be reworked in order for him to fully buy into this type of O.

I don't know how anybody could tell anything about Ricky's legs in those "shorts". They look like he borrowed 'em from Shaq. They make him look like Hank Hill's dad.

He gained 25 pounds in a heck of a hurry! I believe he has been working out for longer than anybody knows!

Well, I personaly question the validity of the story that his weight ever got to 190 lbs to begin with. This is a guy that probably hasn't weight 190 lbs since his sophomore year in high school. He was 210 lbs when he came out of high school and was a natural 230 lbs in the NFL.

Guys... All of this is pure speculation. Although I am certainly biased towards Miami, I think the best proven tandem in the NFL has to be Staley and Bettis!!!! Ronnie Brown has yet to play a down. Ricky has been on hiatus. Now, do I think we eventually will have the best? Yes. But you guys cannot deny Staley and Bettis.

I agree completely...

It was probably exaggerated that he was down to 190....
His weight will be fine...
