PFT: Rumors persist that Carl Peterson will be running the Dolphins

Didn't know it was that recently. Well, I guess he'll have a pretty good idea of the kind of person Peterson is. If he is anything like the various reports that leaked say he is, Dolfan nation is going to descend into a mad house come the offseason...

yeah, drafted by the Oilers in 82, so he's plugged into the players' perspective of Peterson for better or worse. As a matter of fact, since you're a professorial sort of guy who should appreciate over-achievement, including but not limited to academics, follow this wiki link. Fact is Oliver is a lot more impressive than his son and anyone who thinks he's not gonna be the driving force through this process doesn't understand a Type A personality.

I'm for it. He is a respected executive in the league. Kansas City isn't an easy city to sell, he is not that bad with talent evaluation. Honestly, if we get Luck, how can he screw that up? We already have talent offensively, need some work on the offensive line and at Tight End. He just has to have some good drafts for the defense and we're set.

Another thing. Lamar Hunt was one of the best men in professional football when he was the owner of the KC Chiefs. Does anyone seriously think he would keep Carl Peterson around if Carl was as bad of a person as some are trying to make him out to be?

Here is a quote Lamar Hunt had about Carl: "Under Carl's leadership, the Chiefs have achieved a high level of respect as one of the leaders in the NFL. The respect has been measured in several principle areas, including development and guidance of a quality organization in every phase -- front office, scouting, coaching, and team."

Unlike Parcells, it seems like Peterson actually would like to be here and not just cash in and jump ship. That is refreshing.

Well Peterson will have a franchise QB in most likely Luck something I don't recall him ever having.

Some are going to be sad if Peterson screws this up, but how could he? If it is just picking 1st overall than im pretty sure anyone would do.
I just want someone who is not going to continue the same garbage we have had the last 3 years and i think it might be more of the same if we land Peterson and Cowher.
Cowher to his credit did throw the ball alot more his last couple of years in Pitt, but it was really really boring football to watch im tired of that type of football.

Ross, appearing on the team-owned Finsiders radio show on WINZ-940, said, “Everybody involved with this team — the players, the coaches, are disappointed to be 0-4. We have to stay together and really get behind our coach. I believe Tony is the right coach. All the games we’ve played have been very close, could have gone either way. But when you see the team practicing and playing as hard as they can, I think that’s a good sign.”

I'm all for having a person who knows football in a position in which he hires, evaluates, and fires the GM and head coach, rather than making all that the job of an owner who doesn't know football.

That's supposed to be Mike Dee's job......

I was happy about Parcells coming here, we ALL were, and look how that turned out...

So this time I won't be too happy or too angry with whatever is chosen. I'll wait until the 2012 season to start forming an opinion. Though, if we have the chance to go for Luck and don't, I will go to ANGRY Occupy Sun Life mode.

Every day, the idea of giving Cowher full control seems more and more appealing.

Make it happen, Ross.

 lol, no it is not Dee's job. His job has nothing to do with the football side of things.

Really, then Mike Dee is a complete asshat, beacuse the PR side of the Dolphins is a total mess, and the loss of thousands of season ticket holders every year he's been here cannot make be making Ross happy. Thanks for making my point that Dee is an incompetant fool.

It's kind of adorable how some of you will go all in trying to spin anything into a positive. This would be Ross giving power to a friend of his who has a horrible track record in this league. That's it. There's no other way to read this. He's not acting in the best interests of the club.

Even if it happens, as long as we get a top coach and some fresh blood in the front office, it could work, but this wouldn't be a good sign. In fact, it's a plague of locusts type of sign.

EDIT: I just realized this Gator thing has put me in an incredibly crabby mood anytime I talk about the Dolphins. Saying Carl has been horrible was an exaggeration. He's only been horrible for the past 15 years. I think it's pretty funny to replace Parcells with someone who may be even more out of touch with the modern game.
