Phil Rivers

My thoughts? We can't make ourselves a contender by trading away the future of the franchise for a QB that can't beat out Drew Brees. Don't get me wrong, I like Brees, but he's not a superstar, and Rivers sofar can't beat him out, so why would we trade our arm and leg for him? Because that's what he would cost us, way too much.

I'm so tired of these damn posts. WHy can't you people just let the coaches do their job? IF Houck can get this line to play better, both Feeley and Frerotte will look much better in your eyes. THen, we can draft a QB next season. Do you really think we can afford to pay for the salaries of a #2 pick (ronnie) and #1 pick (rivers from last season)? and still contend?

HIGHLIGHTED: Wouldnt that sort of diminish the purpose of a message board? I mean come on, lets all be honest here and there's a reason why we sit behind a PC and PRETEND we know something about football, but yet aren't working for the front office.

As I've always said, there's a reason why most of us play franchise mode on Madden and a reason why...well you know where Im going with that.

You're blaming a rookie for not being able to beat a player with a pro bowl season? Because that's insane.

There should at least be a rule that you can't make a thread about trading for a player unless the other team actually WANTS to trade that player!!!

I know that you guys think that every other team in the league is just sitting there looking for any and every way that they can help the Miami Dolphins with little-to-no regard to how it affects their own team.....but that's not exactly how it works.

The Chargers have ZERO reason to trade Phillip Rivers this season, and plenty of reasons to keep him. End of discussion.

That's harsh on Rivers...

Rivers was always going to sit last year, it just so happened that Drew really showed up.

The Chargers would be ridiculed if they were to bench Brees for Rivers... it's exactly like benching a Pro Bowl QB for a rookie.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with Philip being unable to beat Brees out.

I agree with you, but what about Kitna being benched in favor of Palmer? Kitna did not have the most amazing season in the beginning, but man did he show up at the end. I understand that Drew did much better than Kitna, but there was absolutely no objection from what I heard of after Kitna was benched.

Just a thought...

He would cost us our #1 next year...maybe more. Is he worth it?? If Leinhart isn't available...ABSOLUTELY!

He is? More than a #1 next years draft AND MORE? We do need help in other positions. You do realize that don't you? Let's give up all of next years draft for him. Why not?.... RIDICULOUS

You guys act like we already know Rivers will step in and be a probowl player. He may have bust written all over him.

Who knows who will be available next year? FA or otherwise. Let's just wait and see after the season before your ready to trade all our future picks for a kid that has yet to start a down. Stop the madness.

Why is it so hard for people to spell Leinart's name correctly?

Why is everyone so worried about spelling. That is the second most hated thing by me behind the stupid trade player x on team a for player y on team b and pick z in which we can trade for....

Please people, these boards are for quick typing replys for most of them. You obviously knew who he meant. So who really cares if he put an extra H in the middle. This is not a damn spelling bee. Let it go.

drew was a pro bowler, and kitna wasnt...

also palmer was the #1 pick in the draft and was basically told the job was his. the situations differ slightly but are understandable.

At least that makes some sense. Rivers should be excellent and even Marino was high on him when he spent a limited time with us. But we cannot carry such high priced salaries on these players. We don't have the cap room. We need a solid QB and/or a QB with potential. It doesn't pay to have two high priced players and then unable to sign the rest of the pieces to the puzzle. In case people haven't noticed, Saban evaluates talent pretty well and looks for the most bang for the buck.

i agree.

after the season Brees had, hes the starter, no matter what rivers does in camp. its brees job to loose. but if he screws up a few games, i dont think they will hesitate to pull him and see what rivers can do.

if rivers starts even 1 game, brees is out. eather way, i think the fins will be interested in whoever they throwaway (as in trade/cut).

Well it's pretty obvious he's going to be the odd man out past this season in San Diego. He is a franchise QB. The Phins should really try to make a move at him this year before San Diego starts taking other offers with him.

He could make us an actual contender with just his addition.

Your thoughts...

That would be an excellent pick, if and thats a big "if" we could afford him under the cap. He won't come cheap (IMO)
