Philbin and Ireland were "not entirely convinced" he would beat out Moore (Flynn)

So you guys think he is worth the $8+ million that Seattle is paying him?

i think he's worth $10 mil guaranteed to find out just what he's worth long term...absolutely...hell garrard got half of that if he reaches incentives which i'm betting are very easy to achieve...

i'd much rather take a chance on flynn and use that top 10 pick on a bpa need position than roll with david garrard which is where this is headed...

He could be. It's possible. But I think that if Philbin thought he was, he'd be on our roster right now. Gotta trust Joe.

I'm pretty fed up with Jeff Ireland, but I'm giving our new coach a chance before I lump him in with the morons.

I would give him the exact same contract Matt moore has and nomore. He is a backup that has played in 2 games and 1 of them was the last game of the season. He does not deserve more then 2.5 million a year he should actually have to do something in the nfl before giving him real money.

none of garrards money is promised to him they could cut anytime and not pay him a dime

if he makes the 53 that $3.35 mil is on the books buddy...and then the incentives can take it to almost $5 mil if he sees the field...which i think ireland expects him to be the week 1 starter and bridge the gap to the draft pick qb...ie tannehill

I think that of all people who should be skeptical on Flynn it should be Dolphins fans. How many times have we been burned by back up QBs. Don't you think if Philbin thought Flynn was the answer the would have offered him the 5 mil??? Seriously they were going to offer Alex Smith more!!!! And everyone knows he is not a franchise QB.

We made the right choice. Good call by Ireland on this one.

I for one was guilty of bashing Ireland, however I was being ignorant. I was reacting to the B. Marshall trade, well, because I liked watching B. Marshall. Now that I've had a week to sit down and really take a look at Ireland's body of work, I'm happy with him and think he's doing a good job. Thankfully I never put much credence into what the media says. They are always bias and have an agenda.

and you obviously do not understand the way free agency works...if you think he was going anywhere for matt moore money...

Bottom-line; If Philbin wanted him badly enough, he'd be on the roster. Anyone who doesn't think all parameters regarding Flynn, his upsides, shortcomings, monetary value, etc. weren't discussed ad nauseum during Philbin's interviews is naive. What it looks like to me is that Philbin knew enough from seeing Flynn up close and personal to waffle on whether he'd actually be an upgrade over Moore based the film he's seen.

If it's in someone's agenda to see ghosts hiding in closets, well, if that if that helps a body reconcile their cognition with reality, hey, it's no skin off my back.. so have a ball.

I'll add that if it was Henne instead of Moore, Flynn would be here now. :idk:

It makes sense. I mean if they really thought he was a franchise quarterback then they would have signed him. You don't low ball the person you want to be the face of the franchise.

I don't really rate Flynn that highly but I could hardly have complained if we'd got him for what Seattle did. $10m guaranteed and no draft picks !

If you think he's an NFL starter (even if he's only an average NFL starter like Carlton Palmer) that's very cheap

you just don't bring in matt flynn and offer him less than $5 mil per and expect that to get it done...unless you have no clue what his market elsewhere is...and i believe that flynns handlers didn't let us know what kind of numbers seattle was talking about as much as i believe that brian hartlines a #1 wr...

After 4 years, I don't think Philbin has anything to "find out" about Matt Flynn
