Philbin + Clements + Flynn?

We should have just traded for Kevin Kolb if Matt Flynn is our goal. Neither quarterback is as good Matt Moore, but they both get more hype.

KB, you really dont know that. None of us do. But to me, he is the best option out there in FA where we not only have one good QB, but two. Alot of teams cannot say that.

Besides them both being backups...what other reasons are there to compare Flynn to Feeley and Kolb? There is nothing similar about them. Rodgers was also a backup remember.

They come from the same style of offense that masks a lot of inefficiencies of the quarterback. Basically, Matt Flynn is the flavor of the day this go around just as Kevin Kolb was last year and AJ Feeley was in 2004.

I understand your point about the offensive system. Thing is, most people who are wanting Flynn are also wanting Philbin, which would mean we would bring in that system that masks the inefficiencies.

I think Kevin Kolb might just lose his starting job to John Skelton next season.

I live in the South Jersey area....aka "Eagles territory." So I see a lot of the games. Saw both Feeley and Kolb in person. Could easily tell they weren't NLF caliber starters. I've watched a decent amount of Flynn and to me he seems like a completely different player than those two. Just my opinion...

KC just experimented with this same sort of setup and it didn't take them long to scrap it.

KB are you Matt Moore? You anti Flynn posts amaze me. Moore was a solid QB but if you actually watched every game you would know he made a minimum of three critical mistakes each game. Flynn is a young gun with excellent mechanics and is ready to break out. He came from LSU an SEC team that won a championship. He has had the luxury of watching Rodgers for 4 years and absorbed a winning attitude and system. He is going to be just like Aaron once he is giving a chance to start. He is a much better option for Miami and will not cost us our entire future like moving up for rgiii would.

I haven't seen enough of Flynn to make an intelligent decision, only postgame highlights. The danger is assuming that if the 3 come to Miami they can just recreate the success of the Green Bay Packers. To be honest I think that would be wishful thinking.

Agreed. GB has a good line...with no Colombo.

I've been wondering about the sort of staff that Philbin as a head coach could assemble, and found myself contemplating the idea that he could bring in Clements as his OC.. Could this actually be a realistic scenario? Would Tom Clements be willing to follow Joe philbin to miami as the offensive co-ordinator, or would the empty OC spot in Green Bay be more alluring for Clements? It is probably very unlikely but If it were to happen, it would put miami in great shape..

Assuming we could also pick up Flynn in free agency, we would have a Quarterback who is in a system he is comfortable in, and has been efficient in, albeit for two games.. Picking flynn up as the starter would also enable us to address another needs in the draft, drafting oline or a pass rusher at 9 rather than trading away future draft picks to get RGIII...

As I said, I'm not sure what the situation is regarding Clements, and I'm sure Green Bay would want to retain him, but perhaps he'd prefer to be at a team where he can call his own plays? So is this a realistic scenario, could we see both Philbin and Clements coaching the fins or am I being optimistic?
How about Jerry Sandusky as Defensive Coordinator and Larry Fein doing Quality Control duties. i am sure they could share some sexual assault stories.

Philbin was the Packer O-line coach before becoming a figure head OC

i would have to say the Fins will bring in who Ross believes is a franchise QB.so does Ross think of Flynn as that Franchise type guy?

I'm trying to figure out what Matt Flynn has done to warrant starting over Matt Moore at this point.

Ummmm.....he put up numbers that even Rodgers himself has never done?

Yes, its only been a couple of games.....but find a couple of games where Moore has ever even played remotely like that. Not much reps with the first team and came out after sitting cold for ..how long... and played like a stud. It took like 4 games for Moore to even get 2 TD's. (may be a slight exaggeration but I know he didn't even have 6 after five games)
Now, I'm not saying to sign the guy to a Kolb like contract ( I wouldn't in a million years) but he certainly has done enough to earn some hype and attention. Moore is not a pro bowl QB as one said on here. I would be confident with him as our backup, but thats all he will ever be.
