Philbin over McCoy

I'll say it.

I prefer McCoy.

His offense is more dynamic.

His team looks tough.

Phailbin's offense is anemic.

Phailbin's team looks soft.

both coaches are mediocre. Well see how good McCoy is with out Wisenhunt next year and Joe is with a new OC.

If we all agree Phillip Rivers > Ryan Tannehill then who really is the better coach? Plus in head to head compaction the Phins beat the Chargers. In my opinion Philbin edges McCoy

Pretty funny to compare Rivers and Tannehill. How is Tannehill supposed to be better than a guy whose played much longer?

Look at how Mccoy got his team ready to fight at the end of the season. Philbin coached a crappy last 2 games. Its on him to not make adjustments. I mean, he WAS an oc 2 seasons ago right? He could have over ruled Sherman.
Right now today, Mccoy is better, he got his team where we wanted to be. Philbin failed.

To be fair to Philbin, I didn't watch every snap that McCoy's team took over the last season, maybe 3-4 games.....McCoy had an experience QB, played in a tougher division, had better coordinators and more veteran leadership on his team and he won one more game in the regular season and won a game in the playoffs....Philbin was working with a GM he didn't like or trust, a OC was average at best, young team searching for leaders, major internal distraction mid way through the season that went national, no OL and was in the driver seat with 2 games remaining in the season as McCoy's team was on the outside looking in....I have to give the edge to Philbin, he also won the only head to head match up.

McCoy was the shizzle when he was working with Peyton Manning. Now he has Rivers and Keenan Allen. Little bit of a drop off there.

90% of the time, maybe more, it's the players making coaches look good.

Phibin's team beat McCoys, and went into week 17 in the driver seat over the Chargers. I will agree that losing two winnable games to get in the playoffs is inexcusable, but if you consider what Philbin had to deal with....makes you wonder how good a job McCoy might have done with all the issues at O-line, and losing that many important pieces to the passing game.

Phailbin's team also beat Bellycheat .... does that make him the better coach?

Bellycheat also lost all kinds of personnel. He's going to the AFC Championship game.

Red herring argument.

Time will tell which it always does just wondering if anyone had noticed any patterns or had any opinions on the 2 coaches. Thanks for all the input everyone!

Chargers were running the ball 25-30 times a game. They're oline showed to be a bit better than even what they expected. They drafted a workhorse RB (Although injury prone), and still picked up 2 more in free agency.

I think if the chargers hadn't made the playoffs, it would be a different conversation.

Didn't McCoy go to the playoffs with Moore as his QB with the Panthers?

I liked McCoy more than Philbin and I still do, I liked whisenhunt to be hired here years ago and I think that would have been the best pick still.

Philbin will do well when everything else is in place, he is not the kind of coach that gets more out of his team, those other coaches are
