Philbin shows off dance moves at teams kickoff luncheon

How embarrassing! Dancing like he's in an old south baptist revival. A stupid show for people who paid 125 a plate. Ross says, "They paid 125 Joe, go give them a good show."
Go win a preseason game Joe. Seahawks and Pats put up 40+
This team will not make the playoffs under Joe. If the team does, it'll be despite Joe. Like Sparano, he has no go for the throat coaching ability like Jim Harbaugh, Pete Carroll, and BB.
We lose the last 2 games NOT making the playoffs, lose the 1st preseason, and now this. Unreal.

The Dolphins have been having this luncheon for 49 years, are they supposed to quit doing it because they lost a preseason game?

The Pats put up 6 points last week in a loss, while the Seahawks managed 16 points but they still lost too. But then again it's preseason and losses don't really matter.

No. Philbin is supposed to quit dancing, and acting like he's done something. To me, this season and 1st game against the pats is not a catchy slogan like, "It's our time" or whatever, it's bouncig back from the humiliating last 2 games of the season.
Stop dancing like a fool, and win games. Even if they are preseason. If the pats and 'hawks win these in the 40's, I guess that means their back ups are pretty good right? What does that say about our depth??

Whatever about the dancing, saying "I may have character and integrity" is far more cringeworthy, IMO. People who have character don't feel the need to proclaim it, Joe. C'mon.

At least he's loosening up, which was badly needed.

I guess it means they are great but on the flip side I guess we could say the pats defense is a disaster if we are judging by last night's performance. I guess we will find out about our depth tonight, though the starters will be seeing a lot more playing time compared to last week.

Also of note, in that game, like most all others so far this pre-season, defensive holding and illegal contact extended drives...if it keeps up like this, the season's going to be absolutely brutal to watch, with MANY points scored around the league.

he really is changing a little, i wonder if the tragedy that happened to his family just before he signed with us was a reason for this, green bay players always liked him for his demeanor, maybe it just took him 2 years to kind of get back to his old self

To be honest, this whole thing with Philbin 'loosening up' is weird to me because this is kind of how he was said to act in 2012.

He really clammed up and started acting like a robot in 2013, and that is still pretty strange IMO.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Pete Carroll is one of the most conservative coaches in the league but has the luxury of having an elite QB that can bring the team back from seemingly any deficit. Joe Philbin is extremely aggressive, probably one of the most aggressive coaches in the league and if we had an offense capable of putting up 50 or 60 points it would be happening. I see signs of aggressiveness time and time again but if you need evidence go back and review the first Cincy game. Some people were outraged that he didn't simply try to run out the clock with the lead. The biggest complaint for him is he abandons the run too much, in what world does attempting to create a high flying passing offense equal being too conservative?

You guys just simply can't tell the difference between looking conservative because the QB falters in the later stages of the game and actually being conservative.

Sure Philbin can be blamed for the offense being bad but he does not have a problem "going for the throat" or being conservative. Our offense is going to kick some major ass this season and I guarantee, in at least one game, we'll win by 30 or 40 proving my point.

It's a good thing that he's loosening up. I noticed that while players on other teams seemed to have obvious rapport and praise for their coaches, you didn't hear that from our players the last couple years.

We all saw him on hard knocks, and we saw how poorly he related to individual players, and how uncomfortable he seemed. He's like one of those relatives who comes to your house and the dog is growling because it knows that person isn't comfortable around pets.

IMO, in the beginning Philbin was way over his head. He wasn't the type of guy who works well under pressure, can figure things out on the fly, can multitask, work with anybody and everybody, and make an immediate impact to turn a team around quickly. He's not that guy. I also think he personally feels he needs a lot of control, and I don't think he had that with Ireland there, and with Sherman there. Now, the campus looks and feels different to him, and he's more relaxed.

This doesn't mean it will translate to wins, of course. What it means is that there's no internal conflicts going on inside the organization, and there's no obstacle to winning, in that sense. Let's see if we can win.

Are we talking about Wilson? Elite? It's not due to the team around him? Big time disagree there. How conservative was Carroll in the SB? You see signs of aggressiveness? How aggressive was Joe in the last 2 games of last year? He let it all hang out? Didn't show. Did he allow Tanny to run more? Nope. Joe is lost. He WANTS to have the Packers to coach, but he doesn't.

Roy, we clearly see the team and Coach Joe differently and that's fine. I can't sway you and you can't me. That's what's good about this board. Opinions from all sides. We both hope this season is better than last.

He's passive-aggressive. That's different than being aggressive or being a natural leader or a forward-thinker.

Just my impression, from what I've seen of him.

The one thing that's going to save this team is Bill Lazor. And that's assuming we can mask the problem of not having a running game.

The QB did run at one point and picked up 20 yards, the problem is we needed 21. But I suppose Joe Philbin was the one screaming at him to get down...
