Philbin Supporters: Why do you want Philbin to stay?

So, if you don't want the Dolphins team compared to the top of the league, why bother?

We've had 3 top 10 picks in Ireland's 6 years doing the shopping(that alone shows the level of talent on the team), and what do we have to show for it? A QB that we still don't how good he is because at the end of the games he is on his ass 2s after the snap, a guy we lost on freeagency and a backup DT on a defense that allows 100yds/game. Not to mention the highest pick at the time for a bone headed center.

Again, not enough talent...

I don't see how this absolves Philbin of anything. If haas a team more talented than Tampa (which he does), he should beat them. If he can't do that now, what makes you think he will be able to beat top teams when he has top talent??

I had no issue with the Philbin hire (he was on my shortlist), and if we give him another year it wouldn't piss me off, but games like last night don't help his cause.

Philbin isn't a leader of men. His coaching staff are inept and putting players in a position to be successful. They don't make adjustments quick enough mid game. They are stubborn in sticking with plays that don't work.

This is the first time I have lost all faith in Philbin and his staff. This was his moment to assert himself and show the world what he was made of. His team lied down. Mailed it in. Never showed up until 30 min in.

He's not the answer. This team doesn't need integrity. It needs to WIN.

What's why I said "It is not that I want him to stay." I think we have to fire everyone. Philbin has to be a casualty of Ireland's past mistakes and we need to start over.

*Edit. BUT I don't think it is his fault...

I've seen enough. I liked some things about coach Philbin, but the Bills game and now this convinces me that he is not the man to coach this team.

Winning is curing and deflecting a mass murderer and a DUI.

number of philbin supporters has got to be close to the number of martin supporters.

words of wisdom

Recently read article from Armando....I couldn't agree more

Word of advice: Ross should stop looking into Philbin’s eyes and look instead to the football field where the Dolphins look rudderless.

More advice: Instead of listening to his coach’s voice, he should listen to the fans who are saying, “If you are going to start over, Mr. Ross, start over from the ground up. Don’t offer half solutions.”

If Ross turns Ireland into his scapegoat after this season, he would be making basically the same mistake he made last year. Last year, Ross fired Tony Sparano and kept the general manager who had worked with the coach since 2008.

So Ross decided it was Sparano’s fault the Dolphins were failing and not Ireland’s. Now, if he lowers the guillotine on Ireland but spares Philbin and his staff, once again the Dolphins would be an uneven organization.

By that I mean the Dolphins wouldn’t be hiring a general manager and coach who are in synch. They would be hiring a general manager who has to accept the current coach, just like this time around they hired a coach who could accept working with Ireland.

And what might that mean? The general manager equivalent of Jeff Fisher or other experienced personnel men will decline the chance to come to Miami.

Ross on Monday spoke of two committees that will advise him on what to do next. I’m not on that committee. But here’s my advice:

Ask questions, sir.

Ask why Dion Jordan, your third overall draft pick, plays only sparingly.

Why your two high-round rookie corners don’t play but you trust Nolan Carroll, who the last coaching staff figured out was not good enough but is playing despite being not good enough.

Ask why this defense misses so many tackles. Still.

Ask why the offense has no identity. I mean, seriously, what are the Dolphins really good at doing offensively?

Do they use possession passing really well? No.

Do they run the football really well and stick with it? No.

Do they spread defenses out and use their deep threat Mike Wallace to strike fear? Well, that was the plan. But unfortunately, it was Ireland’s plan.

And the coaching staff apparently didn’t get the memo.

About the Dolphins coaching staff: Offensive coordinator Mike Sherman seemed out of tricks by the middle of the first half. His team was down 15-0 and the Bucs had figured out the Miami snap count, figured out your love of slant routes, and figured out your love of the wide receiver screen.

This is a terrible time for the Dolphins. And Ross seems prepared to address the terrible as well as possible. The hope is he doesn’t settle for incomplete fixes.

Clean house, just hit the re-set button on the entire front office and coaching staff. Hate always starting over, but a partial cleansing won't cut it this time. Ireland and Philbin should be tied at the hip in all of this.

Sorry josh I know you take this **** hard! I won't pick on you.

This isn't about talent in comparison to the top teams in the league, this about talent in comparison to the dregs of the NFL like Tampa. We are undoubtedly more talented than Tampa,

And I think a lot of the poor performances can be put on coaching. These coaches don't put players in the best position to succeed.

I don't think we're more talented than Tampa.

There d is better than our D..Lavonte David is better than Ellerbe and Wheeler combined. McCoy is a top DT and Revis is Revis.

Whats was the deal with going for 2 pts. in the 3rd qtr....
Left me scratching my head and I heard nothing about that call ...Am I off base because for me thats a very strange call at that point of the game....

You have to be kidding me. They were starting their 4th string RB and Mike Glennon, that alone makes then less talented. As a whole, the Dolphins are more talented than the winless Buccs led by a coach they hate
