Philbin won't commit to starting Tannehill against oakland in press conference.

LOL too. I was going to use 5.0 as the cutoff until I saw that Tannehill's YPA to-date is 5.03!.

Tannehill's YPA to-date is downright SCARY. Not only is he ranked last, but the next-to-last ranked QB is nearly one-half yard higher. This is really unfathomable - it must be at least 4 standard deviations below the league average.

Obviously Philbin recognizes this. He HAS to do something.

LOL. Love it. And I think you've pinpointed the tipping point. Coaches can't afford to be happy adjusters. There is a a difference between a normal statistical deviation and borderline incompetence. Tannehill so far this season is performing below Ryan Leaf level. Leaf was always a 5.5 type guy in the NFL, albeit with very high interception numbers that drove his adjusted number below 4. Tannehill still manages to somehow avoid interceptions, primarily because he's not accurate enough. The defenders expect it to be in one spot but Tannehill misses by a foot or two, hence all the deflections and frustrated defenders. That happened 2 or 3 times yesterday alone.

Philbin in his opening presser mentioned passer rating differential. Lazor has correctly spotlighted yards per attempt. After two games I'm sure they were well aware of the numbers but didn't want to panic. When the third game is even more extreme in the same direction, now you can't ignore it. It's either condemn the design and the coaching and 10 other players, or look at the quarterback as the culprit.

Frankly I wish this were happening late in the season. As I posted months ago, we need Tannehill to tilt severely in either direction. Worst case is another moderate season and an ongoing tease, with potential for a disastrous contract extension that regulates the franchise just like our home stadium. I agree with TedSlimm's version that Tannehill simply doesn't have it. I posted that I wanted to draft Luke Keuchly in 2012. I'd like to pretend I would have taken Russell Wilson later but that's self patting and hardly a certainty.

If Philbin and Lazor are having doubts I wouldn't be surprised if Dennis Hickey has expressed doubt about Tannehill, and refusal to hitch to him regardless of performance.

I'd sign up for 5.0 yards per attempt right now as Tannehill's season ending number. We'd move in a different direction, which is the correct path. Otherwise we're stuck with lots of talented -- if not great -- players but nowhere to go with them.

This is my opinion, I think that inserting Matt Moore won't do anything for the team. I only have to look at preseason and last years game in Buffalo to tell me that. Also, the training camp reports were not good as well. However Tanne is pissing me off because he won't run the damn ball! There have been a butt load of chances for him to do so. I don't know if he is being coached not to, or if he is choosing not to. Either way it is pissing me off! I do think regardless of who the QB is, this team will get better and better after Pouncey gets back, the O-Line gels, and more time in the new offense. The other thing a little off topic here is I CAN"T WAIT for Jones to get back. Wilson has been PATHETIC! He looks like he is playing 2 hand tag out there. He doesn't want to hit.

Back on topic, if Matt Moore does start I hope he proves me wrong. I want this team to win bottom line. I honestly believe Matt Moore comes in and wows us with a couple of nice deep throws and then reverts to pick 6's and fumbles...especially if the line allows pressure like KC and Buffalo. I definitely understand the Tannehill frustration and I want the kid to start making plays and it just hasn't happened yet. If Matt Moore comes in, fully behind him and hope he proves me wrong. I have said it before and I will say it again, I would rather be wrong and win than right and lose!

It's tebow time ladies and gentlemen. Tebow will bring hope when there is none. Tebow will bring intensity when there is none, and tebow will bless your child after every touchdown. Give me some tebow action I'm tired of failbin.

I Cant agree more , Moore umder this new Offence Just Might Light it up , But whats eating me alive is I Have NEVER seen a QB come in and do what Tannehill did ,put up decent numbers , and was right there with the elete QBs last year , and **** the bed the next year ?all I can figure is he cant get the handle on this new Offence, and maybe its the case with Moore he just might come in and be a whole different QB in this system , maybe Tannehill isn't cut out for this kinda Offence ,Im not sure but from my time watching for over 20+ years ive either seen they had it from takeoff or they didn't nothing like this crap.

Only problem I see here is that Philbin will give RT the start. RT will light it up for 3TD's, 300+ yards and 65% comp. Then Philbin will give RT the start for 2 or 3 more games where subsequently RT will stink it up.

We all know RT can have VG games but he is wildly inconsistent and has greatly regressed from last year over three games. With that being said however, Moore still is probably not any better than Tannehill so we all have to live with the fact that we are more than likely screwed.

Yeah I don't know if I've ever seen the wheels come off quite like that before. I mentioned it in another thread that coaches quite often need a bit of luck to get off on the right foot and the same thing could probably be said of inconsistent QBs. If you have 3 or 4 bad games in a season in you the worst thing that can happen is they all come out the first 2 or 3 games. If it happens that way they will completely take the wind out of your teams sails and you go from being a mediocre QB to looking like a horrible QB.

Well I have to be a man of my word and it is getting close, I am almost to a point of WVism. About seen enough.

Nut the **** up Philbin, the leash should be nonexistent at this point.

Tannehill on a shorter leash for 2014
http://www.finheaven.com/showthread.php?351746-Tannehill-on-a-shorter-leash-for-2014

La Canfora reports Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin told general manager candidates during interviews that Tannehill could be on a shorter leash in 2014. A source indicated Philbin wants to have more competition at quarterback to push Tannehill, and Philbin won’t be afraid to make a change next season if needed.

Good! Keep Tannehill in! Sink or swim! (clearly the former at this point)

Unfortunately, it's clear Philbin knows his job is on the line, so he's going to go the desperate route and replace a very, very likely backup QB with a definite backup QB.

It's the right decision. Matt Moore is attractive because he is not Ryan Tannehill. Moore is not leading you to a Super Bowl and you need to see if Tannehill can put it together. Move on from him at the end of the year if need be.
