Philbin's seat just got hotter

I didn't like the moving down in the second round. We could have had Niklas.

I think most of what you say is fair, however I think Turner and James will be starting immediately, even if by default.

No one knows how these players will turn out. I remember there being mostly a positive vibe after last year's draft, and none of the players ended up contributing.

Could very likely happen again

Turner and James MUST get stronger. They did fewer reps of 225 then TE Arthur Lynch

CONGRATULATIONS on the worst post of the weekend. Feel free to take a bow and perhaps if we're lucky, enlighten us further as to any other aspects of the team you're also an expert in

Let me borrow your time machine since you know so much about the future. I wonder if I ever end up smashing Halle Berry before she develops wrinkles or if Geno Smith goes down as the worst QB in NFL history?
I hear a bunch of people saying the OP is crazy, but see nobody saying why. What did he say that anyone can disagree with. This draft was about seeing how many slow players we could draft. The NFL is about creating mismatches, where did we pick up a single one??

Look I understand we had to have a few cornfed, and I have no problem taking one in the first. But call a spade a spade, there is no doubt we reached. Did we have to reach?? I guess they thought we did, personally I didn't and wanted to trade down. But the OP states correctly that he wasn't drafting game changers, no where. These were players he was hoping will make the roster, not the probowl. Too often Ireland was accused of drafting "SAFE" rather than game changers, well this was the definition of drafting "SAFE". We have ONE player who will have a chance to start week one on a 8-8 team. I mean HAS A CHANCE !!!!

Some on this board will love the draft no matter what, some will hate it no matter what, I was hoping to love it, but I have to be honest, I really don't. Can't say I hate it yet, but some of these players that are long shots have to become players or Hickey will be in danger of being replaced when Philbin is done.

The thing about the draft is that as fans we end up convincing ourselves that each player we draft has he potential to be a pro bowler. While it is true many have potential, it's still only potential, and only very few ever pan out to that level.

If you go back to threads from previous draft days you will find consensus praising the likes of Clyde Gates, Tony Bua, Lamar a Miller, etc. chances are we will only get 3 solid starters out of this draft and a few backups if we are lucky

Hey stealer fan. Lets see what the stealers look like now that Cowhers team is aging towards retirement. Lets see how much of that success can be recreated without him.

Based on the responses, it looks like Philbin's seat isn't the only one that just got hotter :chuckle:

I'm sick of you already. How would you have handled the draft then genius?

I guess all those linemen won't help at all.

Damned if ya do, damned if ya don't.

Good argument, I will agree with you about not competing in the East...The Pats are putting together a Super Bowl caliber defense, the Bills already had a very good defense and they added weapons on offense and the QB is coming back for his second yr, the Jets have upgraded there offense by getting a good WR and a game changer at RB then added the best safety in the draft on an already good defense....

I think we fixed the OL. with the subtraction of the bullygate boys and OL coach we are better than last yr..add to that a LT and competition at RT and both Guards with a new coach and we will be much improved, anyone thinking RT won't be sacked is fooling themselves, he still we get sacked 30-40 times next yr.....my real concern is the D our secondary is injury prone and our LB suck and we have no depth, we also lost our best run stopper.......

IMO Hickey made the picks he did because he plans on being here a few yrs, he trying to fix the offense and then next yr he will upgrade the D, the key is he must have 3-4 yrs with strong drafts. In the mean time I see us in last place in the division, Philbin will be fired and Hickey will continue to build for the future.....in order for Philbin to keep his job he will have to take an average team and coach the hell out of them.....I don't see that happening, I hope he proves me wrong.....

What would I have done? I would have noticed the games we gave up that caused us to be 8-8 and peter out at the end of the year. I would have taken the trade down and gotten James or same talent RT later.
I would have taken Clyde as my power runner. I would have taken a TE in the 3rd. then WR, ILB, G/C, CB in that order based on BPA with all the talent that was there.

IF only we had drafted Clyde and Johnny Football... We'd be packing for the SuperBowl as we speak:(:(

funny, I was gonna compliment him begrudgingly on what looks like a good Steelers' draft - and then commiserate that it's too bad they don't have a HC capable of utilizing them. (but didn't wanna get involved in a pissing contest, cuz lord knows I've had my share with "loyal oppositions.")

Where is that ignore button again? I hate when jets fans come on here and pretend to be idiot dolphins fans that freak ou over nothing and are clearly clueless. May have fooled everyone else but i knew what you were doing original poster ;)
