The Dolphins are clearly rebuilding...both persaonnel and phlisophically. I applaud Coach Philbin for doing the right thing and canning "Ocho-Clowno". If you notice the Green Bay Packers...no outlandish personalities...just a great football team...just what Philbin is trying to do. Be patient Finfans...it may take another draft or two but I really believe this team is FIN-ally headed in the right direction!

You can say that about the Giants and Patriots too. TEAM FIRST. Individuals after. It's so ingrained into their psyche, that every player who has played for them honors the "Patriot way.". Except for Johnson.

I am in total agreement about coach Philbin...but wasn't this same thread posted when Saban was coach, and when Cameron was coach, and when Sparano was coach...man, I hope I don't see this thread again this decade.

I don't get my hopes up anymore with new coaches. Im just going to patiently wait and see. After the run of garbage we've had in charge of this team it se

Same with me, I agree! Philbin comes from a high class organization in Green Bay and he wants the same for this organization. He is the figurehead of this franchise and he doesn't need some clown talking about porn and dropping the F-bomb right and left in a live press conference because that reflects off Philbin. Philbin wants to do things professionally and with class and if you cant handle it then your getting the boot. I think Philbin is doing the right thing and cleaning house.

the premise for your argument is based on an assumption, therefore your prognosis is invalid. you have no idea how much influence Philbin had in Johnson being cut, if any. also, he was a well-documented clown before he allegedly headbutted his wife and not only remained on the team but was designated 1st string. lastly, i suspect most teams (if not all) would have cut him after this latest incident. so, the dolphins wouldn't be so special in that regard. but that part is my opinion.

The fact that Coach Philbin comes from an organization where they don't have to deal with these type of personalities probably has a lot to do with why he's not interested in taking on the headache. Every coach that comes to Miami ends up having to deal with overpaid morons that have an opinion but no concept of winning.

It starts at the top and **** rolls downhill. Coach Philbin or anybody else that weeds out these baffoons are to be applauded, not criticized. It's Jeff Ireland that should be the one in front of a camera confessing that they're his mistakes.

Coaches already know that they're hired to be fired at every level. Philbin inparticular has a hell of a task in front of him trying to turn an organization and culture down in Miami into a legitimate contender that flat out makes people want to piss on the sidewalk on their way out of town while moving on to better things.

They have a top 10 pick invested at the quarterback position that they have to make sure they develope, and a barrell full of lazy and underperforming athletes scattered all across the roster that are going to require some hurt feelings soon. Coddling any immature sideshows who are supposed to be grown men approaching their mid 30's is far down the list of Philbin's priorities. That I'll guarantee.

First off...it was not an argument...it was an opinion. It was not pointless...Chad Johnson broke the law...had his ars thrown in jail...posted bond...and less than 24 hours later was cut...by Philbin!...that is a FACT.

Hell, I'm most excited for this season!!!

Then again, lately I've been let down early in the year. :idk:

Life's too short to look past a season.

Doing the right thing? it was the ONLY thing to do. You had a fringe player w/ past issues that was on a short leash. Chad wasn't a vital part of your team so he made the only decision he could make. A difficult decision would be a similar situation w/ a player that is important to the long term success of the team.

The reports where clear that the decision was left to Philbin with the owner and GM agreeing.
