The Bears ran a lot of what are called "green dog" plays where they MLB would delay blitz through the guard/tackle gap. Tell me, whose responsibility is it to pick up that blitz when the guard and the tackle in that gap are already engaged on blocks? Do you expect the center to loop around the guard and make that block, or do you expect the quarterback to pick this up and get rid of the football quickly?
The latter is the breakdown of the play AJ got hurt on. Vernon got beat on the outside but recovered. AJ did a good job of stepping up, but the problem starts when he saw the green dog. Instead of getting rid of the football, he froze. Blame that on the OL all you want, but that was on Feeley.
OR actually taking the Sack may have been the best play. Depending on the coverage. I have not replayed the play, but if his first read or maybe even his first two reads were covered, it would be better to take the sack then to throw it to a defender. On that play (IF I rememeber right) both rb's went and filled a different hole than where the blitzer came through. I would guess that one of the two backs was supposed to read that blitz and pick it up.
