I just think he should sit, aaron rodgers sat and look how that worked out for him.

Given that he did a good job of separating from coverage there and making the play, I hardly get your point. To each his own- in Egnew I see a seam buster and a guy with separation ability. I think that he'll be fine as a pass catching TE and he'll beat 1 on1 coverage his share of the time.

He wasn't really separating from coverage. He made a play, yes, but the :25 second mark is not him getting separation. Plain and simple. I may be wrong about him developing into a great pro, but I simply do not see it. The fact remains, those were good plays. Not separation. They are different things.

Funny, it looked to me like he separated from the guy who was covering him and made the play.

People are really concerned over whether or not we can keep Pat Devlin on the roster? Why? He's a 3rd string QB at best. Its not like he would ever be counted on to play in games in more than an emergency situation. If something were to happen to the guys in front of him on the depth chart we would sign someone immediately. Pat Devlin is never going to start games on a regular basis in this league and probably not a single one..... ever. There are plenty of people who can step in and be the 3rd string QB should we lose Devlin. Basically, the point is that decisions or moves involving player personel at the QB position are going to be made without consideration of Pat Devlin.

On Egnew, and this is going by the interviews I have seen with him, Philbin, and Coach Campbell (who Egnew says is the best coach he has ever had), is early in camp they are focusing on getting him used to the idea of being a prototype TE. Sounds like they expect him to be a receiving threat, but they want to line him up in traditional sets as well.

Remember, Philbin used a lot of TEs in Green Bay. I fully expect Fasano, Clay, Egnew AND Les Brown to all be on the roster.

I'm getting more and more interested in Les Brown and Chris Hogan.

Why? Because they're workout freaks?

Too much is made of that stuff.

Because Hogan is one hell of an athlete and Les Brown is as well, plus from what I've seen Brown seems like a very intelligent guy. Both if them have compelling physical tools and this is, after all, football.

i mean guys that size unless they're flat out freaks are gonna have some stiff hips...it's just part of the package...but it's a lot more than just hips with this kid...that one speed stuff is a problem...no gear down no explosion when he crosses a defenders face...i watched guys run in his hip tapping him all over the field whenever he actually ran anything down the field...his value underneath was more about soft coverage recognizing these coverages and sitting down in front of it...and then as soon as he does get the ball there's no breaking tackles or run after the catch he's tackled...

i just don't get the hype...the combine number aren't supported by the tape...that missou system did that kid a favor...he's a te who plays a wrs game wthout the suddenness and explosion and at this level...good luck with that...drop 10-15 lbs and try to salvage something...

Spot on my friend, spot on.....

Egnew will never pan out...."never" ... take that one to the bank! ...i'll eat crow all day if he does , but i'm so sure of it that he will be a bust so I'm not scared.

Ah, it's nice to be home... declaring 3rd round busts before the preseason let alone the actual season, cutting the best QB we had last year, promoting practice squad legends to starting rolls... yes.... yes- smells like Miami to me.

I know boredom plays a significant roll but some of these epiphanies makes one wonder if the current status of our beloved franchise is somewhat deserved, perhaps karmically earned.

Take a lot more than "compelling physical tools" as we see time .... and time .... and time again.

Thank you for the compelling insight. I said that I'm keeping an eye on them.
