Phins To Abuse FA, With Good Reason?

Considering the Phins have changed coaches on the units that have failed the worst. I really wonder if the answer is in FA, the draft or miscast on the roster.

I'm not sure we'll really have 38 mill under the cap but that's not as much as it seems. We're going to lose a bunch of free agents ourselfs and the ones we do keep will cut into that money big time. I can see us getting 2 top guys but after that, it'd be 2nd and 3rd tier.I wish Hickey was the one with "money and picks" to see what he coud do. Ireland blew it big time last year.

Ozzy rules!!

Mayock claims this is the best draft class in 10 years. Surprised me, I have to say, there are a lot of players I like, but I didn't think it was special. I defer to his experience.

Either way, it strikes me that there are great options this year for OL, DT, power RB, possession WR, backup QB, zone CB. Fortunately these are our main areas of need. ILB has a few very good candidates, but then there's a sharp drop off. A few good TEs, then a dropoff also.

But we can address a lot in the draft, IMO. Being one of the youngest and cheapest rosters around, we can afford to add quality and experience and leadership in FA. I hope that's how we approach it.

The proof will be in the pudding but with more than 150 underclassmen coming out it sure looks like you are going to be able to get guys in rounds 3-5 that can not only contribute right away but start. Guys that may have a second or third round grade may not be taken till rounds four or five, just because the talent is so deep.

Yes and no, if you look at how Miami played last year, the big thing will be fix the O-line, if they do, Miami has a very good shot of making the playoffs. As for DT, Odrick and one of the two FA (Soliai/Starks) will be fine, Clemmons and Grimes will be resigned.

After those players are signed, any other position Miami is able to upgrade (TE or RB) will be gravy, because once the O-line is fixed, miraculously Miami will be able to run and pass much better then 2013.

Most of the money for the free agents will be just resigning our guys or if they leave their replacement. No way it's like last year when Ireland had to win right away to save his job. That never works out it seems.
i think we may overspend for a quality lineman or two and maybe a couple backups but the 30 + mil cap will go quickly.

In a perfect world free agents are just something to fill a spot or two and hopefully as our drafting improves we will use it less and less.
