Phins to resume talks with Scott this week, plus more phins buzz

I DO want the Fins to start getting some guys from "name" colleges.

I cannot for the life of me understand why it is that when they actually do draft a player from an SEC school... the school is Always And Forever... ole miss. They seem to think it is required to draft at least 1 ole miss player EVERY year. The SEC's bottomfeeders. And the guys are always BUSTS.

How about some Florida, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia players for once?

But avoid Big 10 players, especially QB's. There are far more Chad Hennes than there are Tom Bradys.

Typical u player career: 6-8 seasons, 1 Pro Bowl, 5 arrests, more drama than they are worth, grossly overpaid DUE TO u HYPE. This is one area the Dolphins have been CORRECT in, even spielman and ireland.

we didnt lose brees because he didnt want to raise his kids here, we lost him due to saban not wanting to take a chance on him because of his shoulder.

"I have long suspected THIS was what cost us Brees behind the scenes. He didn't want to raise kids in SFla."

Two flaws to this argument. One, he signed in New Orleans. Does that sound family friendlier than Miami? Two, Brees only took the Saints offer once Miami traded for Culpepper. He was coming to Miami if not for that.

The thread is about Scott and UM players. Don't see how it went off course...

I just find it annoying that we don't pick players from our own backyard when they are the ones that usually pan out in the NFL. It's mind boggling.

Yatil Green, was NOT a crap pick...guy never had a chance due to back to back knee injuries...just settin´it straight!
Been said a million times. With the advances in medicine just within the past few years, I wonder how he would have faired now? Kid just had horrible luck.

Hindsight is 20/20

Keep in mind this is a franchise that took John Jerry at 73 over Jimmy Graham (who went 95th) in 2010 when Bill Parcells mistakenly thought he could draft Graham in the fourth round

Jimmy Graham has Drew Brees throwing to him. We had Fasano who came off a pretty impressive year. I don't blame the Tuna at the time for trying to get another road grader for Sprano and the run game...

Jamar Fletcher (26) over Reggie Wayne (30) in 2001

Were we in the market for a reciever at this time? I know we weren't really in the market for a CB either but then again this was a Wanny pick so that should explain why this happened... Besides I thought we all were claimoring for Brees with this pick, not Wayne.

selected Jason Allen 16th and traded the 51st pick for Daunte Culpepper in 2006 (instead of signing Drew Brees), thus eliminating any chance of drafting Devin Hester (57) or Eric Winston (66)

Jason Allen was a homer pick by Saban who also tried to recruit him to LSU, Allen hadgood speed and decent smarts, but the hip injury and pick here was a head scratcher. As far as us trading the pick for C-Pep was also a blunder, but had he panned out I'm sure we all would not have complained about getting a franchise QB over a KR and RT... Hester suprised everybody by his success, every body said he was a below average WR/CB... Winston slipped big time, he was slatted as a 1st rounder but his knock was short arms (I beieve)... They just happened to pan out... However for every UM player that has success you can also name one that was a bust.

and took Anthony Alabi over Chris Myers in 2005

Are we really gonna discuse 5th and 6th round picks here? 31 teams passed on Myers 5 full times, yet it's only the Dolphins blunder? Oh please!

Choosing solid pro Daryl Gardener at 20 instead of Ray Lewis (26) in 1996 would have been regrettable if Jimmy Johnson hadn’t found a gem in Zach Thomas at No. 154 that year.

We had Jack Del Rio on the roster, ILB wasn't as much of a need as a stud DT to pair with Bowens in a 4-3 defense was... Lewis was the 4th LB taken in that year, Jacksonville (Another Florida team btw) took Hardy 2nd, Denver took Mobley 15th and the Lions took some guy I've never heard of names Reggie Brown 17th... Yet again, it's the Dolphins blunder they missed out?

As for Mckinnie, if he would have signed for the same price Columbo did then he has a legit gripe...

Ed Reed was taken 24th, we didn't have a first rounder that year because of the Ricky Williams trade, had we not traded for Ricky we still woulda missed out on Ed because we have had the 25th pick, and as far as I know Ed Reed has never been available via Free Agency...

Jeremy Shockey - He was washed up after injury and when the Giants dumped him. no biggie here.

would love to see us sign Scott this week. Makes me more comfortable that we will get impact players in the Draft.

I wanted Jimmy Graham and I knew he wouldn't last till the 4th. He had a lot of potential, great athlete. He may have Brees and he probably wouldn't have put up the numbers here that he's putting up with the Saints but the kid can play. Tuna took a chance that he'd be there in the 4th and lost...I don't fault him for it either but it would have been nice to have an athletic TE on this team that could threaten the seam like that kid.

This one really hurt. I really, really wanted Reggie Wayne and was livid when we passed on him but that was typical Wannstedt...disregarding the offense like a freakin idiot. And yes we were in the market for a WR, needed one bad and we took Chris Chambers in the 2nd round of the same draft. Every Hurricanes fan hated that Jamar Fletcher pick over Wayne...Wayne was a freakin stud at the U, he caught everything thrown his way.
